Requirements
  • Demonstrate a passion for dentistry and the application of oral surgery therapy didactic principles to preclinical and clinical patient care.
  • Demonstrate a strong desire to teach students in a demanding, fast-paced academic environment.
  • Hold a D.D.S./D.M.D. degree or equivalent.
  • Complete an Advanced Education Program in Oral Surgery with a certificate, Master's Degree, or higher.
  • Hold a current Missouri dental license, or an active dental license in a United States state or Canada and be eligible for licensure in Missouri; alternatively, provide evidence of eligibility to receive an unrestricted Missouri dental license or a Missouri Faculty license.
Responsibilities
  • Develop goals, objectives, and policies for the dental education program within the KCU College of Dental Medicine.
  • Implement and deliver the oral surgery didactic curriculum, including preclinical materials, simulation, and laboratory exercises.
  • Integrate evidence-based best practices with clinical patient care and guide current research and scholarly activity in oral surgery.
  • Assure the safe and effective delivery of dental care by dental students.
  • Deliver clinical treatment for patients as needed in the Oral Health Center.
  • Serve as an advisor, coach, and/or mentor to dental students expressing a desire for advanced education in oral surgery.
  • Mentor dental student research in the area of oral surgery when applicable.
  • Serve as faculty advisor for community-based activities in the realm of oral surgery.
  • Conduct summative and formative preclinical and clinical student assessments in oral surgery.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervising faculty or the Dean.
Desired Qualifications
  • Be board-certified or board-eligible in oral surgery.
  • Demonstrate a strong desire to improve the oral and overall health of patients in the region through collaboration with other primary care professionals.
