Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of five years of accounting experience is required, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and regulatory requirements is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience is required.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and project management software is required.
  • Understanding of industry trends and application of lean or continuous improvement principles are required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide financial reporting and analysis to business units and departments within the health system.
  • Maintain the month-end and year-end financial statement close schedule and process.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations and business processes of an accounting team.
  • Monitor the proper recording of financial transactions, assets, liabilities, revenue, and expenses in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and Governmental Accounting Standards Board guidance.
  • Oversee the maintenance and reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
  • Implement process improvement activities in accounting business processes.
  • Assist with the development, training, and performance management of accounting team members.
  • Manage general ledger processes and maintain accurate, reconciled accounts and financial reporting at the cost center and business unit levels.
  • Supervise staff responsible for account reconciliation and ensure the accuracy of journal entries and the general ledger.
  • Assist in strategic reporting related to health system and medical center initiatives.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for projects, strategic requests, financial and operational management, product line committees, operational improvement teams, and strategic initiatives.
  • Lead accounting projects involving high business risk, scope, and organizational impact.
  • Resolve unique or highly complex financial problems as an organizational subject matter expert.
Desired Qualifications
  • An advanced degree is strongly preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant credential is strongly preferred.
  • Accounting experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
