Requirements
  • A Master of Science in Nursing.
  • Current licensure as an Registered Nurse, or eligibility for Maine licensure by date of hire.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Documented expertise in his or her area(s) of teaching responsibility.
  • Commitment to teaching, professional development, and service.
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate didactic, clinical, or laboratory courses as needed.
  • Provide academic advising to students, with a workload of 12 credits per semester (24 credits per academic year) split between instruction and academic advising; the split could include 5 credits for academic advising of students in semesters 4 through 8 and 7 credits for instruction.
  • Contribute to broader School of Nursing teaching mission and participate in relevant program activities as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Two years of documented college/university-level teaching experience including didactic, clinical, or laboratory courses in a pre-licensure nursing program.
  • Preference will be given to candidates prepared to teach or contribute to courses in specified areas of clinical expertise: NUR 200: Care of Adults I; NUR 303: Pathophysiology; NUR 316: Pharmacology; NUR 340: Psych/Mental Health; NUR 444: Management and Leadership in Health Care System; NUR 455: Senior Clinical Practicum.
