Requirements
  • Significant experience in internal audit, external audit, risk management, controls, or another relevant financial-services role, including experience leading complex audits or major audit workstreams.
  • Strong knowledge of internal auditing standards, risk and control concepts, and the three lines of defence model.
  • Audit or business knowledge and an understanding of risks and regulatory requirements in one or more relevant areas, such as Corporate Bank, Investment Bank, banking operations, technology, risk, compliance, finance, or other infrastructure functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead audit teams or workstreams, provide effective coaching, and deliver high-quality work through others.
  • Strong understanding of the control environment and regulatory expectations within a global financial-services organisation.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate complex information, identify root causes, and reach balanced, evidence-based conclusions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex and sensitive matters clearly and professionally.
  • Strong stakeholder-management, influencing, problem-solving, planning, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across different businesses, functions, and jurisdictions and to develop knowledge rapidly when assigned to new audit areas.

Responsibilities
  • Lead complex audits and workstreams across agreed Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa regional, country, and portfolio priorities, evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls relating to underlying risks.
  • Execute and lead day-to-day audit work, including audit planning, risk assessments, business monitoring, fieldwork, reporting, and finding validation activities.
  • Plan and execute audit fieldwork in accordance with the agreed audit approach, including documenting activity flows, identifying key risks, assessing control design, and testing whether controls operate effectively.
  • Determine the appropriate audit approach for assigned workstreams and provide clear direction, coaching, and support to other team members participating in the assignment.
  • Lead the preparation of audit reports for review by audit management, including developing and agreeing high-quality findings that articulate identified control weaknesses, associated risks, and required remediation.
  • Complete assigned audit work in accordance with Group Audit methodology, quality requirements, agreed budgets, and delivery timelines.
  • Review audit workpapers and other deliverables prepared by assigned team members, providing constructive feedback and helping maintain consistent quality standards.
  • Review and independently assess remediation action plans proposed by stakeholders, supporting robust and sustainable remediation.
  • Act as an effective challenger to finding owners during the remediation and finding-closure process.
  • Lead or support finding validations, assessing whether remediation is complete, sustainable, and supported by sufficient evidence.
  • Support thematic reviews, business monitoring, risk assessments, ad hoc projects, and special investigations where assigned.
  • Work collaboratively with relevant Chief Auditors, Principal Audit Managers, Country Heads, subject-matter experts, and other Group Audit teams to deliver an integrated audit approach.
  • Adapt to assignments across different businesses, functions, and jurisdictions while applying relevant technical expertise and developing knowledge of new audit areas.
  • Communicate with audit management and internal stakeholders, keeping them informed of emerging risks, potential issues, delivery dependencies, and anticipated delays.
  • Present complex and sensitive matters clearly, comprehensively, and professionally, translating complex topics into concise and understandable messages.
  • Develop and maintain professional and consultative working relationships with stakeholders and colleagues across Group Audit.
  • Keep abreast of relevant industry, regulatory, business, and audit developments and share relevant knowledge across the team.
  • Support the Principal Audit Manager with capacity planning, assignment mobilisation, skills assessment, and regular reporting on delivery status, quality, and emerging resource requirements.
  • Coach and develop auditors through structured feedback, knowledge transfer, varied assignments, and support for relevant professional qualifications.
  • Reinforce an environment where people management, inclusion, continuous learning, and development are key priorities.
  • Act as a role model for new and existing team members, supporting effective integration, collaboration, and high performance.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience of working across Asia Pacific and familiarity with the Middle East and Africa.
  • Relevant professional qualifications, such as Chartered Accountant, Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Information Systems Auditor, or equivalent.

NADBank returns to Swiss bond market with $141M issuance for US-Mexico border projects

The North American Development Bank has completed a CHF 125 million ($155 million) bond issuance in the Swiss market, managed by Deutsche Bank. The bond will settle on 29 September 2026, mature on 29 September 2034, and carry a 1.125% coupon rate. The proceeds will be swapped into Mexican pesos and US dollars to fund infrastructure projects in both Mexico and the US. NADBank's strong credit quality and increased investor base contributed to the favourable terms. Moody's and Fitch recently affirmed NADBank's credit ratings of Aa1/Prime-1 and AA/F1 respectively, both with stable outlooks. The international financial institution, equally capitalised by the US and Mexico, finances environmental infrastructure projects in the US-Mexico border region.

Google launches AI agent for banks with Deutsche Bank as design partner

Google Cloud has launched Gemini Enterprise for Financial Services, an AI agent platform designed for regulated banking environments. The tool features a Financial Research Agent with over 50 specialised financial skills and connects to licensed data from providers including D&B, S&P Global, and others. Deutsche Bank served as the design partner and is deploying the agent in its Corporate Bank for German MidCorp clients. The bank plans to evaluate its use in Private and Investment banking divisions. Early adopters include CME Group, BNY, Citi Wealth, Lloyds Banking Group, and Macquarie Bank. The platform emphasises audit-ready features such as confidence scores, explicit methodologies, and source citations. It competes with Microsoft's Agent 365 and Salesforce's Agentforce for Financial Services in the regulated finance sector.

Deutsche Bank completes $1.1B buyback, launches $560M program — can it sustain 60% payout target?

Deutsche Bank completed a €1 billion share buyback on 21 August after acquiring 35.7 million treasury shares at a volume-weighted average price of €28. The bank immediately launched a new €500 million buyback programme starting 25 August, scheduled to end no later than 11 December. The new programme is Deutsche Bank's first funded from current-year net profit. The bank reported second-quarter profit after tax of €1.9 billion, up 10% year over year, whilst first-half profit reached a record €4.1 billion. Deutsche Bank's Common Equity Tier 1 ratio stood at 13.9% at 30 June, within its target operating range of 13.5% to 14%. Management aims for a 60% total payout ratio covering dividends and buybacks as a percentage of net profit from 2026.

Thales issues $1.1B bond to finance Exail acquisition

Thales has issued a €1 billion bond in two tranches to finance its acquisition of Exail, announced on 6 July 2026. The bond consists of a €500 million tranche with a four-year term at a 3.50% fixed rate, and another €500 million tranche with an eight-year term at a 3.75% fixed rate. The issuance attracted strong investor demand and was oversubscribed by a diversified investor base.
