A Day in the Life
This position has the responsibility and authority to provide a lead role in basic and applied research, design, development, test, and implementation of new products. Work includes the design, fabrication, modification and evaluation of electronic apparatus, and components of circuitry for use in biomedical devices. Join a Culture of Collaboration and Innovation.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Applies extensive technical expertise towards the solution of complex technical problems and provides solutions that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
- Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role.
- Works as a technical consultant to cross-functional project teams to help solve technical problems, to provide technical training and to build technological bridges between teams.
- Able to develop and lead others in developing products through all phases of defining design requirements, designing electronic circuits and programmable logic, testing circuits and systems, documenting and verifying the design.
- Designs, simulates and implements electronic circuits (digital and analog) utilizing electrical circuit development tools, digital signal processing, control systems, and microelectronics.
- Plans, designs and oversees the testing of devices according to international electrical emission, immunity and safety standards.
- Effectively plan and estimate project deliverables, project resources, project spending and project completion dates.
- Provides a lead role in the definition of product/design requirements and system architecture development.
- Provide support for existing products.
- Develop experimental hardware and software to support experimental protocols, draft technical papers, and develop hardware and software tools to support experimental protocols.
- All activities must be performed in compliance with the Quality System.
- Performs duties in compliance with environmental, health and safety related site rules, policies, or governmental regulations.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Travel requirement: 10-20%
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 5+ years of relevant experience.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of and experience with IEC 60601-1 technical standards for the safety and essential performance of medical electrical equipment is desired.
- PCBA Computer Aided Design experience is required (Altium Designer desired)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters or Ph.D. Electrical Engineering.
- Experience and knowledge of electrical and electronic devices for the medical industry.
- Detailed analog and digital design, test and measurement equipment operation.
- Able to use and apply technical principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
- Analog Front End design experience including signal acquisition, signal conditioning, and analog to digital conversion
- Experience designing and developing products in a regulated industry preferred.
- Working knowledge and experience with communication interface design such as CAN, Ethernet, RFID
- Predictive engineering experience using modeling and simulation tool such as ANSYS, COMSOL
- Hardware performance capability analisis using statistical methods Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of large scope and complexity.
- Ability to interact with senior internal and external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations and communication with senior management.
- Experience designing and developing products using DRM (DFSS) methodologies preferred.
- Ability to work without appreciable direction while independently determining the approach to problems and solutions.
- Good written and verbal communication skills; including technical writing skills and effective use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Able to work and communicate effectively with other engineers, designers, surgeons, marketers and suppliers to develop products from concept through commercialization in a cross-functional team.
- Handle multiple tasks/projects and manage priorities accordingly.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be independently mobile. The employee is also required to use a computer, and communicate with peers and co-workers.
- During the course of regular assigned duties, the employee may be required to properly utilize personal protective equipment including but not limited to: safety shoes, safety glasses, goggles, hard hats, air purifying respirator or supplied air respiratory protection.
- The employee must be able to lift 10 pounds per job requirement.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$125,600.00 - $188,400.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
