Requirements
  • Understanding of Joint Commission and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Strong customer service orientation and written and oral communication skills.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a nurse.
  • Prior lead or supervisory experience with the ability to effectively supervise and motivate staff.
  • Complete understanding of acuity levels for the patient population.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing; external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility and work effectively in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the health system.
  • Registered Nurse license.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
Responsibilities
  • Manage functions related to the delivery of patient care and the quality of nursing practice and standards of care in the clinic.
  • Supervise and direct staff and unit functions while maintaining clinical nursing practice skills and unit-specific expertise.
  • Manage human resources.
  • Direct patient care activities.
  • Monitor unit budgets.
  • Participate in departmental and medical-center-wide performance-improvement projects.
  • Serve as a role model and clinical resource to colleagues, staff, patients, and others.
  • Exercise discretion in managing sensitive information and safeguard employee, student, health, patient, financial, strategic, proprietary, and other confidential records.
  • Follow organizational policies and laws on data protection and privacy, including secure handling of physical and digital records and proper use of information technology systems.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of university and medical-center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms.
  • Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification or eligibility for certification.
