  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Proven experience as a Cabling Technician or in a similar role, with a good understanding of network cabling installation and maintenance, is required.
  • Proficiency with cabling tools and equipment, including cable testers, fusion splicers, optical time-domain reflectometers, termination kits, and cable management systems, is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints is required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to troubleshooting are required.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment are required.
  • A detail-oriented mindset and commitment to accurate, high-quality work are required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of cabling standards, including structured cabling systems such as ANSI/TIA-568 and ISO/IEC 11801 and fiber optic cabling such as OSP and ISP, is required.
  • Frequent and extended national travel is required, with potential international travel.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with project teams to understand cabling requirements, specifications, and project goals.
  • Install and route data, voice, and video cables according to established guidelines and safety procedures.
  • Terminate cables and connectors to ensure accurate wiring schemes and optimal signal integrity.
  • Test and certify cabling systems using appropriate testing equipment and techniques.
  • Perform cable pulling, dressing, and management within structured cabling systems.
  • Install and configure network equipment, including racks, patch panels, and cable trays.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose cabling issues and resolve connectivity problems.
  • Document cabling installations, labeling, and pathways according to industry standards.
  • Coordinate cabling installations with other construction professionals and building systems.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Maintain an organized work area and keep tools and equipment in good condition.
  • Provide regular project progress and challenge updates to supervisors or project managers.
  • Attend training sessions and stay current with industry trends and technological advancements.
  • Assist with project documentation, reports, and as-built records.
Desired Qualifications
  • Additional certifications in cabling systems, such as BICSI Technician certification, are highly desirable.
  • Three or more years of experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of structured cabling systems and fiber optic cabling standards, including OSP and ISP, is preferred.
