Broadcom posts 221% AI revenue growth, targets $30 EPS by 2028

Broadcom posted 221% year-over-year AI revenue growth, reaching $16.70 billion in Q3 fiscal 2026. The company expects AI revenue to hit $115 billion in fiscal 2027 and $230 billion in fiscal 2028. CEO Hock Tan said Broadcom expects to ship $350 billion of AI semiconductors to customers over the next two years. He also projected earnings per share to exceed $30 by fiscal 2028. Q3 revenue of $29.591 billion beat consensus estimates, with non-GAAP EPS of $3.32. The company guided Q4 revenue to roughly $34.8 billion, up 93% year-over-year, with AI revenue accelerating to $21.7 billion, up 236%. 24/7 Wall St. rates Broadcom as a buy with a $422 price target, implying 19% upside from the current price of $355.

Nvidia and Broadcom: Why you need both chipmakers for complete AI exposure

Nvidia remains a smart investment for AI market exposure, selling GPUs that train AI algorithms for most major AI companies. Analysts expect its revenue and earnings to grow at 59% compound annual rates through fiscal 2029, whilst trading at 23 times forward earnings. However, investors focusing solely on Nvidia miss the expanding AI inference market. Broadcom develops application-specific integrated circuits that process inference tasks more cost-efficiently than Nvidia's GPUs at scale. Major AI companies including Meta, Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic use Broadcom's chips. Broadcom's AI chip sales reached $20 billion in fiscal 2025, representing 31% of revenue. The company projects AI chip sales will reach $115 billion by fiscal 2027. Analysts expect Broadcom's revenue and earnings to grow at 62% and 77% compound annual rates through fiscal 2028, whilst trading at 22 times forward earnings.

Broadcom's $17B AI chip revenue dwarfs AMD's $7B, threatening GPU dominance

AMD's data centre revenue doubled to $7 billion, but Broadcom's AI semiconductor revenue reached $17 billion, growing 221% year-over-year. The scale gap highlights a structural threat to AMD's merchant GPU strategy. Three of AMD's major customers — OpenAI, Anthropic, and Meta — are simultaneously developing custom accelerators with Broadcom. Broadcom claims its co-developed chips outperform GPUs at half the cost, potentially shrinking AMD's addressable market. Broadcom generated $14 billion in free cash flow last quarter and recently announced its 15th consecutive dividend increase. AMD's operating margin stands at 27% compared to Broadcom's 68%. The competitive dynamic centres on AMD's general-purpose Instinct GPUs versus Broadcom's custom silicon approach. If frontier AI labs shift to proprietary chips, AMD's growth assumptions for its $1.4 trillion 2030 total addressable market may need revision.

Nvidia and Broadcom forecast $230B AI chip revenue surge by 2028

AI stocks are predicted to remain strong investments over the next five years, with recent corporate guidance supporting this outlook. Broadcom reported 86% year-over-year revenue growth in its fiscal 2026 third quarter, with AI semiconductor revenue up 221%. The chipmaker projects AI chip revenue will double to $115 billion in fiscal 2027, then double again to $230 billion in fiscal 2028. Nvidia anticipates 70% year-over-year revenue growth in its fiscal 2028, citing supply chain issues as a limiting factor. Hyperscalers including Amazon, Microsoft, and Alphabet are generating substantial returns from their AI infrastructure investments through their cloud platforms. Investors are increasingly looking beyond chipmakers to smaller AI stocks for diversification opportunities.

Broadcom forecasts $350B in AI chip sales over two years as sector growth accelerates

Broadcom reported revenue surging 86% year-over-year in its latest quarter, with adjusted earnings per share up 96%, both figures exceeding analyst estimates. The strong performance was driven by hyperscaler demand for custom AI chips and networking equipment, with quarterly AI semiconductor revenue tripling to $16.7 billion. CEO Hock Tan projected the company will ship $350 billion worth of AI semiconductors to six key hyperscaler customers, including Meta and Google, over the next two years. Hewlett Packard Enterprise also posted robust results, with revenue of $12.21 billion, up 34% year-over-year, and adjusted earnings per share climbing over 30% to $1.11. The company raised its full-year revenue growth outlook to as high as 37%. Despite strong results, shares of both companies fell following their earnings announcements.
