Head of Communications @ Scale AI

Scale is looking for a communications leader to drive its positioning, voice, and overall presence across the AI industry. You will transform our company objectives and narrative into a broader communications strategy across media relations, executive communications, product and operational communications, and thought leadership. The ideal candidate balances inspirational leadership with hands-on initiative, blends business and technical nuance with clear and compelling simplicity, and thrives in a fast-paced startup environment.

You will:

Manage and scale all comms and PR functions across Scale’s commercial, US public sector, and international business
Shape and evolve Scale’s company narrative, and drive an integrated communications strategy to advance it across media, speaking engagements, executive communications, customer and partner activities, and other creative PR programs
Inspire and grow your team, and put in place the right organizational design to drive the best outcome across a mix of Scale and agency assets
Roll up your sleeves to personally deliver outcomes and lead from the front
Develop a deep partnership and trust with our executive team, and partner with them on all things communications and positioning
Dive deep into technical and business nuance of Scale’s role in the AI industry, yet zoom out to deliver clear, compelling, and powerful narratives

Ideally you’d have:

Minimum 12 years communications experience across both in-house and agency
Demonstrated success in defining and evolving communications strategies for fast-moving companies in the high-tech and/or AI space
Experience across the gamut of communications functions: media relations, financial comms, internal comms, product comms, and narrative development
A strong roster of reporter relationships and experience managing agency partners
A penchant for digging deep into data and technical nuance to understand issues deeply, and the clarity of thought and writing ability to turn that into compelling narrative
Demonstrated success scaling your impact through inspirational leadership and rigorous hiring

Compensation packages at Scale for eligible roles include base salary, equity, and benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position, determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, interview performance, and relevant education or training. Scale employees in eligible roles are also granted equity based compensation, subject to Board of Director approval. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process, and confirm whether the hired role will be eligible for equity grant. You’ll also receive benefits including, but not limited to: Comprehensive health, dental and vision coverage, retirement benefits, a learning and development stipend, and generous PTO. Additionally, this role may be eligible for additional benefits such as a commuter stipend.

The base salary range for this full-time position in the location of San Francisco is:

$204,000—$244,800 USD
