THE PROGRAM
We’re looking for students to join our Co-Op Program who are obsessively curious about ’what’s next’. You’ll get hands on experience with our products and learn from the best of the best in the business. You will immerse yourself into Bose for 6 months and get the opportunity to grow the skills your learned in the classroom with hands on work experience. By the time you end your time with us, you will have been given the opportunity to truly make a real impact in the future of Bose and your career!
Opportunities don’t stop at your day-to-day work. While you’re getting an in depth look at your area of expertise, we’ll expose you to other areas of the company. Our Co-Ops are given the opportunity to connect with senior leadership across the business to understand different perspectives at Bose. You’ll network with other Co-Ops and colleagues to grow your network for the future!
Timeframe - July-December 2023
THE ROLE
The voice communication systems on Bose wearable products including over-the-ear and wireless in-ear headphones have been mostly using in-house solutions highlighted by Bose NC700 headphone. Voice pick up for form factors with microphones on a single side of the head can be challenging due to head to head fitting variations, limited array housing options, acoustical treatments and system constraints, etc. For this co-op, we will look into voice pick up technologies that fall under the advanced development category, system tuning and tooling work that help us build the platform for voice technology development, and evaluating emerging machine learning technologies for voice pick up to make our voice communication experience stand out in the industry.
Responsibilities Include, But Not Limited To
- Voice capture technology DSP algorithm development, tuning and evaluation on wearable products
- Collaborate with a diverse team of Acoustics, System and DSP engineers on the next generation of wearable devices
- Investigate, design and create testing methodologies to ensure we have the best voice performance in the industry
- Create applications in Matlab, Python and C for both data acquisition, tuning and real time audio rendering
Must Have The Following
- Strong passion and drive to succeed.
- Familiarity with time domain and frequency domain based signal processing
- Knowledge in microphone arrays, adaptive beamformers, echo cancellation and noise suppression
- Proficient in MATLAB and Simulink
- Basic understanding of acoustic transducers and audio/EE fundamentals.
- Great communication skills, both verbal and written
Preferred Skills, Abilities, And Knowledge
- Python and C/C++ programming skills
- Familiarity with basic acoustics concepts and human speech psychoacoustics, HRTFs, etc
- Experience with Acoustic Measurements and audio tuning
- Experience with DSP algorithm prototyping and development
Qualifications
- Upper level undergraduate or graduate student studying Acoustics, Audio Engineering, Electrical Engineering with a focus on signal processing or similar
