BillionToOne is looking for a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to lead development of customer-facing digital products, including clinician portals and EHR integrations for our rapidly growing oncology diagnostic testing products. BillionToOne’s DNA tests are at the forefront of personalized genomic medicine. Electronically integrating patient health data across disparate information silos and BillionToOne’s genomic testing results can enable oncologists to easily determine the most effective therapy or clinical trial for each patient. TheSenior Manager, Software Engineering role is a full-time onsite position in our Menlo Park office. 

Examples of what you’ll work on include:

• Web-based portal that enables busy oncologists to order and receive state of the art DNA tests.
• Integrations with oncology practices’ EMR systems for seamless, “1-click” ordering of lab tests
• Clinical decision support systems to support oncologists as well as internal BillionToOne clinicians.
• Software systems to ingest unstructured and image-based medical data (e.g. clinical notes, CT scans) into a clinical data lake.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the delivery and operation of high-quality software that enables clinician adoption of BillionToOne’s genetic tests
• Develop and implement software development processes and best practices to enhance team execution and ensure high-quality products. Use data to identify bottlenecks and improve them
• Provide hands-on leadership by example through designing, reviewing, and writing code
• Lead technical planning
• Collaborate with Design and Product Management to deliver efficient and informative
• Mentor and guide a team of 3-6 software engineers in their technical and professional development
• Manage the hiring process to bring on new talent as needed

Requirements:

• B.Sc/M.Sc degree in Computer Science or Bioinformatics
• 5+ years hands-on experience designing, building, and scaling consumer-facing web applications in digital health or diagnostics
• 3+ years of experience as a hands-on Software Engineering Manager
• Experience at 0-1 startups or growth companies preferred
• Strong knowledge of web technology across front-end and back-end: Javascript, React, Postgres, Python
• Strong knowledge of cloud architecture and devops (e.g. Docker, AWS, Sentry, Datadog)

At BillionToOne, we are proud to offer a combination of a (1) base pay range (actual amount offered is based on experience and salary/equity options split that the candidate chooses) (2) generous equity options offering, on top of (3) industry leading company benefits (free healthcare options, 401k match, very generous fully paid parental leave etc.).

For this position, we offer a total compensation package of $375,000 per year, including a base pay range of $200,000-$230,000 per year.
