Requirements
  • A university degree or college diploma in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Human Resources is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist in an industrial or manufacturing environment is required.
  • Proven experience and knowledge of recruitment, performance management, employee engagement, learning and development, talent management, compensation, and disability management are required.
  • Hands-on experience with Human Resources Information Systems and Applicant Tracking Systems is required.
  • Professional experience with Ceridian Dayforce is an asset.
  • Experience formatting and drafting correspondence, forms, reports, presentations, and proposals is required.
  • Membership in HRPA and CHRP, or progress toward a CHRP designation, is an asset.
  • The candidate must demonstrate professionalism, integrity, discretion, confidentiality, sound judgment, organization, communication, time management, prioritization, independent work, attention to detail, proofreading, relationship building, consultation, influencing, negotiation, critical thinking, problem solving, presentation, and group facilitation skills.
  • Knowledge of labour laws, the Employment Standards Act, and the Ontario Human Rights Code is required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is required.
  • Advanced written and spoken English communication skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Partner with supervisors and managers to identify, address, and resolve people-related issues by providing timely and practical advice.
  • Serve as a front-line Human Resources point of contact and support for hourly employees in the operations group.
  • Develop Human Resources solutions and action plans that support operational needs and objectives.
  • Provide guidance and coaching on sensitive, confidential, and complex Human Resources issues while ensuring compliance with policies and applicable employment and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and manage Human Resources programs covering talent acquisition, uniforms, employee and supervisor development, goal setting, performance reviews, performance management, engagement, compensation, rewards and recognition, and organizational effectiveness and design.
  • Manage full-cycle Human Resources processes, including orientation, onboarding, new-hire administration, terminations, offboarding, disability and leave management, and probationary reviews.
  • Manage employee relations practices and facilitate communication between managers and employees through standardized performance management and coaching.
  • Support workplace investigations and lead the resolution of sensitive employee issues and complaints in a fair, timely, and legally compliant manner.
  • Support recruitment through job postings, screening, interviews, offer management, and participation in recruitment events and functions.
  • Develop and facilitate training programs covering onboarding, performance management, progressive discipline, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act compliance, and workplace violence and harassment prevention.
  • Support employee engagement and employee feedback through surveys, focus groups, and employee meetings.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and departments to develop communication and action plans for organizational change.
  • Monitor emerging Human Resources trends, legislative changes, and best practices, and liaise with Human Resources peers to keep policies and procedures current and compliant.
  • Administer day-to-day Human Resources functions, including document filing, recordkeeping, meeting preparation, and incoming correspondence.
  • Participate in health and safety activities, including the Joint Health and Safety Committee, and support Workplace Safety and Insurance Board claims management and return-to-work planning.
  • Prepare, distribute, edit, and proofread correspondence, memoranda, presentations, reports, and related materials.
  • Update internal Human Resources communications, including television slides and lunchroom communication boards.
  • Track and analyze Human Resources key performance indicators and metrics to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate and schedule mandatory internal and external training programs.
  • Maintain and update training and performance review matrices for all employees.
  • Develop, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and RACI charts.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of employee records and sensitive Human Resources information in accordance with privacy legislation.
  • Support the accuracy and maintenance of the Human Resources Information System and employee records for reporting and compliance.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional projects supporting broader business goals and objectives.
  • Perform other duties and projects assigned by the Vice President of Human Resources.
