Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related.
  • 2+ years of laboratory experience using EPA-approved methodologies and instrumentation, preferably GC-FID and GC/MS.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills, and the ability to think critically.
  • MUST BE ABLE TO PASS an EPA background check to obtain access to US federal property.
Responsibilities
  • Support the preparation and analysis of samples for primarily organic chemistry methods with possible cross-training on various inorganic analyses.
  • Perform sample preparation and operation of GC-ECD, GC-FID, and GCMS to determine volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds, pesticides, Aroclors, and fuel hydrocarbons.
  • Ensure compliance with EPA methods for various media (air, water, soil, biota) and environmental programs as well as the NELAC standard (2016).
  • Analyze soil, water, air, waste, and tissue samples for chemical contaminants using USEPA-approved methods.
Desired Qualifications
  • Solvent extraction experience using EPA methodologies and CLLE, SPE, ASE and other techniques.
  • 2-5 years of progressive experience in laboratories accredited for environmental analyses (e.g., TNI or NELAC, state programs).
  • Experience working at Federal facilities.
  • Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS’s), knowledge of Promium Element LIMS is a plus.
