Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities
  • Perform full patient registration and ensure insurance is verified and patient information is accurate.
  • Obtain copies of insurance cards, driver's licenses, referrals, and authorizations as applicable.
  • Explain consent, financial liability, HIPAA, privacy, billing, and other legal or compliance documents and obtain required signatures.
  • Instruct patients to complete physician-required questionnaires.
  • Schedule, cancel, and edit appointments and accurately record no-show patients.
  • Reconcile vouchers and deliver them to the designated area.
  • Answer, triage, document, and route high-volume incoming and outgoing calls.
  • Coordinate patient functions from prearrival through discharge using multiple clinical and revenue-cycle systems.
  • Perform pre-service validation for in-person and virtual visits.
  • Assist patients with MyChart and self-check-in kiosk technology.
  • Coordinate patient flow and ensure timely check-in and arrival to service areas.
  • Enter and update demographic, financial, and clinical information protected under HIPAA.
  • Review real-time insurance eligibility responses and update coverage information as needed.
  • Provide financial counseling, explain benefits, create estimates, notify patients of financial liabilities, and collect payments.
  • Coordinate complex follow-up care with providers, clinical teams, and schedulers onsite or remotely.
  • Process currency, reconcile the cash drawer at the end of the day, and make timely bank deposits.
  • Support departmental performance goals for copay collection, previous balances, estimate collections, patient satisfaction, accuracy, and processing time.
  • Maintain communication with the healthcare team to support check-in, check-out, clinic flow, and patient experience.
  • Recognize, analyze, resolve, and de-escalate issues using sound judgment and critical thinking.
  • Follow physical-distancing guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot unique situations with the healthcare team.
  • Perform cross-trained front-end revenue-cycle and clinical-support functions and float across areas as needed.
