Requirements
  • The candidate must have a bachelor's degree in business or finance.
  • A master's degree is preferred.
  • Five to seven years in hospital business finance or operations, including two to three years in a leadership role supervising financial and/or system analysts.
  • Prior experience in operational benchmarking in a hospital setting is preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership for assuring cost savings from the patient care services model in accordance with the cost containment projections.
  • Manage operations, enhancements and day-to-day functionality of the Kronos scheduling system.
  • Ensure payroll policy is followed and provide weekly payroll interfaces to the Lawson payroll system in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Implement Clinical Staffing vendor contracts, develop working relationships and provide reporting of external staffing utilization by hospitals.
  • Prepare in-depth financial analyses to determine the overall financial impact to the hospitals related to the implementation of new patient care services programs and changes to existing programs and policies.
  • Educate and consult nursing clinical management on budgeting, interpretation of financial reports, and managing staff resources to volume.
  • Provide bi-weekly productivity reporting to clinical and senior management in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Establish the skill mix and staffing ratios for all patient care units in the system in partnership with patient care services teams and senior patient care services leadership.
  • Develop and implement a productivity monitoring system and validate the productivity measures.
  • Assist designated management personnel with unit-specific budget development and compliance, recommending staffing adjustments as required.
  • Hire, train, orient, evaluate and when necessary discipline and recommend discharge of subordinate personnel.
  • Assign and prioritize projects of subordinates personnel.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the philosophy and objective of continuous improvement, team work, the mission, vision and values of the organization and adhere to the Customer Service Standards.
  • Monitor activities for and ensure compliance with laws, government regulations, Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) requirements and policies.
  • As directed, implement external and internal audit recommendations.
  • Ensure hospital departments achieve objectives for diversity of their suppliers.
