THE POSITION
JPB seeks a self-directed, dedicated, and detail-oriented Human Resources Associate to join our team. Along with the Senior HR Generalist, this role ensures our team has seamless access to essential payroll and benefits resources, supporting their well-being and enabling them to perform at their best. Committed to our mission, the Human Resources Associate understands the critical role that timely and accurate HR functions play in employee satisfaction and their ability to perform at their best. This position will support various HR operations and processes with a focus on payroll, benefits administration, and HR information systems. With an exceptional ability to synthesize and communicate information effectively, the ideal candidate is highly skilled in setting priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The HR Associate will initially report to the VP of People & Culture.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The following are the primary areas of work for this position:
Payroll and Benefits Administration
- Provide support for processing semi-monthly payroll
- Administer and process employee benefits programs
- Resolve benefits issues and answer employee questions
HRIS and HR Operations
- Maintain and update HRIS records (employee data, compensation, etc.)
- Conduct HR audits and file maintenance to ensure data integrity
- Generate HR reports and metrics as needed
- Assist with HR projects and process improvements
- Provide general HR support (onboarding, offboarding, policies, etc.)
Talent Acquisition and Management
- Support recruiters, both internal and external, to manage hiring process
- Manage enrollment and adherence to statutory trainings
Administrative and Operational Support
- Manage scheduling and meeting/training logistics
- Assist as needed with reports, tracking, and communications
- Duties as assigned to support the operations of the team
QUALIFICATIONS
- Commitment to JPB’s mission and values and connection to the issues/communities we fund
- College degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant full-time work experience
- Interest in building a human resources career in philanthropy or nonprofit sectors
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and fast-paced environment
- Strong time management skills with attention to detail
- Sound judgment, integrity, and impeccably accountable with sensitive/confidential information
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Strong “customer service” orientation and high level of emotional intelligence
- Team player (willingness and initiative to support the team to carry out its duties)
- Proficient with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite (including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and able to learn other programs
- Experience working with Paychex Flex
- Experience working with BambooHR, and/or Greenhouse Recruiting a plus
- Great sense of humor
SALARY & BENEFITS
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. JPB deeply values fair and equitable wages that enables people to thrive. As such, individuals that join JPB at this job level will start at the midpoint of their range, which is equivalent to $100,000. JPB offers an extensive and generous benefits package including health insurance (with 100% of the premiums paid for employees, spouses, domestic partners, and qualified family members), paid time off (including the last week of the year), 401(k) retirement plan with 12% employer contribution, and access to an inclusive family building reimbursement plan. JPB provides up to $5,000 annually for professional development and the ability to recommend an annual grant to the nonprofit of your choice.

The JPB Foundation is based in Manhattan, NY. JPB staff operate on a hybrid schedule and work from the office 3 days weekly, with the flexibility to work remotely two days weekly.
