Position:Western Colorado University invitesapplications for thefull-timeposition ofUniversity CenterCoordinator.The position reports toExecutive Director of Student Involvement & Engagement, works closely withFacilities,andis responsible forUniversity Centeroperations and creating a vibranthub for student engagement and campus life.
Responsibilities: The primary role of this position is to oversee the planning, operations, and overall coordination of the University Center. The UC Coordinator develops and implements both short- and long-term operational goals and strategies that support student engagement and campus life. This position supervises student staff and maintains responsibility for the financial performance of the University Center.
The UC Coordinator provides comprehensive management of the facility, including building operations, event services, sustainability and recycling programs, environmental health and safety, and coordination of work performed by external contractors. At times the UC Coordinator is required to move and set-up tables weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasional weekend and evening work is expected. In addition, this role plays a key part in collaborating with campus partners to support and coordinate campus-wide events and student programs, ensuring the University Center remains a vibrant hub for community, connection, and student involvement.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Business, Communications, Human Services or related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in customer service, hospitality, campus operations, or similar environment
- Experience providing day-to-day direction, support, or oversight to student or part-time employees
- Experience supporting operations of a shared-use facility or high-traffic space (e.g., student union, hotel, conference center, recreation facility)
- Ability to work with a wide diversity of people including Faculty, Staff, and Students; excellent communication skills; strong organizational skills; ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Ability to move & set up tables weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work irregular hours including some nights, weekends, including New Student Orientation, Commencement, Homecoming, Family Weekend and other student events that fall on evenings & weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a higher education work environment.
- Experience in event management.
- Managerial experience (at least one year) in hospitality, lodging, or other customer-centered industry.
- Experience managing or leading operations of a multi-use facility, including coordination with custodial, maintenance, and event services
- Understanding of daily building operations, including scheduling, event support, and safety/risk management
- Experience supervising, training, and developing student or part-time staff, including hiring, scheduling, and performance feedback
- Demonstrated ability to build a positive team culture and hold staff accountable to high service standards
Compensation:This full-time FLSA exempt position offers an annualbase salary rate of $52,000-58,000.Westernoffers an excellent benefits package including shared premiums for a comprehensive health insurance plan, dental insurance, retirement plan, life insurance, and other insurance options. After one year of employment, Western provides free tuition for dependents enrolled full time in undergraduate programs for up to four years.
