A Day in the Life

The person in this role may follow a hybrid schedule, working three days per week from one of the Medtronic facilities listed below, and two days per week remotely (from home). Work locations may include:

The Medtronic Product Innovation organization is Medtronic’s global technology team focused on next generation software product capabilities which deliver on the Medtronic mission and vision to deliver Insight Driven Care. This role will operate within the Digital Health subgroup of the broader Product Innovation team, focused on patient engagement, care coordination, AI, healthcare analytics & interoperability amongst other advanced technologies which enhance our product portfolio with new services, while improving clinical & patient experiences.

• Develops, documents, and configures systems specifications that conform to defined architecture standards, address business requirements, and processes in the cloud development & engineering.
• Architect, design, and develop advanced mobile applications for both iOS and Android platforms.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define project requirements and deliverables.
• Collaborates with back-end developers to integrate RESTful APIs and AWS based microservices
• Actively identifies system functionality or performance deficiencies, executes changes to existing systems, and tests functionality of the system to correct deficiencies and maintain more effective data handling, data integrity, conversion, input/output requirements, and storage.
• May document testing and maintenance of system updates, modifications, and configurations.
• May act as a liaison with key technology vendor technologists or other business functions.
• Function Specific: Strategically design technology solutions that meets the needs and goals of the company and its customers/users.
• Test the quality of a product and its ability to perform a task or solve problems.
• Leverages platform process expertise to assess if existing standard platform functionality will solve a business problem or customization solution would be required.
• Perform basic maintenance and performance optimization procedures in each of the primary operating systems.
• Ability to document detailed technical system specifications based on business system requirements
• Ensures system implementation compliance with global & local regulatory and security standards (i.e. HIPAA, SOCII, ISO27001, etc.)

MUST HAVE (Minimum Qualifications)

• Bachelor’s degree
• 7+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of experience with an advanced degree

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred Qualifications)

• Strongly Preferred:
  • Previous Healthcare or Medical Device experience
  • Strong experience building multi-platform mobile solutions
    • Experience in mobile performance optimization
    • Experience with mobile deployment and distribution services
  • Android Development
    • Proficient in Kotlin
    • Knowledge of Android design principles and Material Design
    • Proficient with Android frameworks; Ex. Health Connect
  • iOS Development
    • Proficient in Swift
    • Strong understand of iOS frameworks; Ex. UIKit, HealthKit, ResearchKit, etc.
    • Knowledge of Apple design principles and guidelines
  • Data Formats: Experience with JSON, XML and DTO schema definitions for data transfer.
  • CI/CD Tools: experience setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar tools
  • Scripting and automation: Comfort in scripting language such as Shell, Bash, etc.
  • Monitoring and Logging: Familiarity with monitoring & logging tools like CloudWatch, ELK, Dynatrace, Prometheus, etc.
  • Source Code Management: Expertise with git commands and associated VCS (Gitlab, Github, Gitea or similar
  • Documentation: Experience with Docs as Code and markup languages for creating technical documentation
• Working knowledge and experience implementing healthcare data solutions with FHIR and HL7v2 standards
• Building software classified as Software as a Medical Device (SaMD)
• Understanding of EHR technologies such as EPIC, Cerner, etc.
• Experience implementation enterprise grade cyber security & privacy by design into software products
• Experience developing global applications
• Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies
• Software estimation
• Experience leading software development teams onshore and offshore

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$140,800.00 - $211,200.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
