23andMe is looking for an intern to join our best-in-class Research Team on a project focused on improving access to high quality health and ancestry information for all people. This position will begin in summer 2024 with the opportunity for extension into the school year.

Requirements for this role include excellent communication skills, attention to detail & timelines, and undergraduate coursework in Biology or another health-related field. Candidates should also have an interest in research and have a passion for improving representation in science and medicine.

What You’ll Do

• Assist the team in creating engaging web content (such as videos and infographics) for  23andMe customers and prospective participants to raise education and awareness about the impact of participating in genetics research.
• Engage with external collaborators of 23andMe’s Sickle Cell Carrier Status Awareness Program and other community partners to develop program related messaging and other materials on 23andMe programs. 
• Work with stakeholders within our Research, Product, Communications, Marketing, and Legal teams.
• Support science communication for forthcoming research studies and new ancestry features for diverse audiences.

Strongly Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in biomedical science (or a related field)
• Experience creating communications materials a plus
• Experience working with diverse stakeholders and completing a project with many moving pieces
• Experience with and excitement for working with organizations such as non-profits and community based organizations
• Familiarity with human subjects research and concepts in research ethics
