Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and a minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers or American Red Cross CPR/Healthcare Provider).
  • Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
  • RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and to obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform job functions while walking, and continuous movement.
  • Ability to climb stairs.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in temperature extremes.
  • Ability to work from elevated areas, in confined/cramped spaces, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting.
  • Ability to perform pinching operations and gross motor movements with fingers and hands; strong fine motor skills.
  • Ability to reach overhead and in all directions; ability to lift and carry 50 pounds unassisted; ability to lift from floor to 36 inches unassisted; ability to reach 36 inches to overhead 25 pounds; ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force.
  • Ability to maintain vision (20/40 corrected), color discrimination, depth perception, peripheral vision; maintain hearing acuity.
  • Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements; deal effectively with stressful situations; ability to work rotating shifts and overtime.
  • Ability to work in a latex-safe environment; ability to be qualified for respirator use as required.
Responsibilities
  • Provides nursing care to patients using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation).
  • Directs and leads other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care.
  • Provide patient/family centered care focusing on physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs.
  • Maintains a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment through patient privacy and professional behavior.
  • Participates in a professional practice model, shared governance, adherence to standards of care, peer review and professional development, leadership and autonomous practice.
  • Coordinates the effective and efficient delivery of patient care services through the application of care management principles.
  • Identifies clinical priorities and initiates action to improve patient outcomes.
