Requirements

  • Candidates must obtain and maintain applicable state certifications and/or licenses in the state where job duties are performed.
  • Candidates must obtain case management professional certification (CCM) within 2 years of the hire date.
  • Candidates must earn Continuing Education Units to maintain certifications and licenses.

Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, coordinate, monitor, evaluate and implement options and services to facilitate timely medical care and return-to-work outcomes for injured workers.
  • Coordinate and implement medical case management to facilitate case closure.
  • Communicate in a timely and comprehensive manner with employers, adjusters and injured workers.
  • Assess appropriate utilization of medical treatment and available services through contact with physicians and other specialists to ensure cost-effective, quality care.
  • Review and analyze medical records and assess data to ensure the appropriate case management process occurs while providing recommendations to achieve case progress and movement to closure.
  • Manage assigned caseloads, which may vary in number, territory and/or state jurisdiction.
  • Acquire and maintain nursing licensure for all jurisdictions as business needs require.
  • Coordinate services including home services, durable medical equipment, independent medical examinations, admissions, discharges and vocational services when appropriate, and evaluate the cost-effectiveness and quality of services.
  • Document activities and case progress using appropriate methods and tools in accordance with quality-improvement best practices.
  • Review job analyses and job descriptions with providers to coordinate and implement disability case management, including coordinating job analysis with employers to facilitate return to work.
  • Engage in special projects as assigned by the case management leadership team.
  • Attend on-site meetings and professional programs occasionally.
  • Maintain and update evidence-based medical guidelines, including Official Disability Guidelines, MD Guidelines and required state-regulated guidelines, in reference to injured-worker treatment plans and work status.
Desired Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in workers compensation insurance and medical case management is preferred.
  • Oral and written fluency in both Spanish and English is a plus.
  • An RN compact license is preferred.
  • CCM certification is preferred.
  • A Bachelor of Nursing is preferred.

W. R. Berkley forms Berkley Meridian through merger of Verus and Vela Insurance

W. R. Berkley Corporation has formed Berkley Meridian, a new specialty insurance business combining Verus Specialty Insurance and Vela Insurance Services. Marlo M. Morrison will serve as president of the new entity. The business will unite underwriting capabilities and expertise across construction, professional liability, garage, casualty, and other specialty lines, focusing on the excess and surplus wholesale broker market. Integration has begun and is expected to continue into early 2027. Morrison joined Verus Specialty Insurance as president in 2019, bringing nearly 30 years of property and casualty insurance experience. W. Robert Berkley, Jr., chairman and chief executive officer of W. R. Berkley Corporation, said the combination will allow the company to leverage expertise and provide a broader suite of solutions. W. R. Berkley misses Q2 revenue estimates but beats profit forecasts by 17.3%

W. R. Berkley, a property casualty insurer, missed revenue expectations in Q2 CY2026, with sales rising just 1.2% year-on-year to $3.72 billion, falling short of the $3.77 billion analyst estimate. The company's net premiums earned reached $3.19 billion, roughly in line with expectations. However, W. R. Berkley exceeded profit forecasts, reporting non-GAAP earnings of $1.27 per share, beating analyst consensus by 17.3%. The combined ratio of 90% also outperformed estimates of 91.4%.
