Requirements
  • CVT—Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) certification.
  • RRT or CRT: Associate degree from an accredited respiratory therapy education program.
  • Radiography: Completion of an accredited radiography program (RT(R)).
  • Paramedic—National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians-Paramedic (NREMT-P) certification.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required depending on unit specific needs.
  • Must possess and maintain one of the following: Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT)—RCIS or RCES certification OR Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) OR Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) OR Registered Radiologic Technologist (R.T.(R)) OR Paramedic—NREMT-P certification with RCIS certification.
  • One year of experience in Cardiac Catheterization laboratory; able to meet all job duties of Invasive Specialist I; unit specific performance competencies.
Responsibilities
  • Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures and protocols.
  • Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs.
  • Ensures that patient education of procedure performed, needs, safety, and comfort are met while in their care.
  • Acquires patient’s clinical history and assures that the information is accurately documented. Verifies files and records for completeness and accuracy of the patient involved in studies. Archives and amends demographic information to appropriate storage media.
  • Positions patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.
  • Assesses processed image media for technical quality, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
  • When applicable, applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self and others.
  • Provides physiological and hemodynamic monitoring during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  • Supports the Physician as a scrub assistant for cardiovascular procedures.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge of aseptic technique.
  • Appraises and evaluates actual and potential hemostasis of a vessel post procedure.
  • Locates, uses and troubleshoots complex technical equipment/instruments. Acts as a resource for its operation and training.
  • Maintains customer service skills in communication with all staff, visitors and co-workers.
  • Maintains adequate inventory levels of supplies, equipment, resources, tools and forms.
  • Understands application and technical aspects of all equipment and supplies used in all procedures.
  • Ensures case turnover time to be within established department standards by maintaining proper workflow and prioritizing optimize patient care.
  • Performs at least one of the following: Department preceptor (attend basic preceptor course), charge, actively participates in quality initiative and performance improvement initiative, measures by outcomes and shared governance.
  • Is a superuser on at least two of the department’s clinical systems or unit specific technologies.
  • Maintains regular, punctual attendance consistent with organizational policies.
  • Maintains compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patients’ rights and compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  • Accountable for maintaining downtime productivity.
  • Notifies Biomedical Engineering and/or equipment company as appropriate to resolve problems and reports incidents to the supervisor.
  • Demonstrates good judgment and decision-making skills as required or will solicit supervisory input.
  • Utilizes department computer systems effectively and accurately.
  • Assists in developing and implementing essential policy and procedures.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of procedural changes and equipment updates.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment and well-stocked and organized work areas.
  • Works evenings, weekends, holidays and on-call as scheduled.
  • May be required to work at any Orlando Health facility.
  • Performs all other duties as necessary to assure customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrates efficient use of supplies.
  • Assists with collection of quality assurance data.
  • Manages reportable occurrences and files appropriate forms with Risk Management.
  • Implements established procedures for biosafety measures.
  • Participates in ensuring OSHA, Joint Commission, and Food and Drug Administration regulations are adhered to within the department.
  • Assumes responsibility for professional development and continuing education to maintain licensure.

Florida cancer centre opens 31,000 sq ft St Petersburg facility with on-site imaging

Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute has opened a new 31,000-square-foot facility at Orlando Health Institute Square in St. Petersburg, expanding cancer care access in Pinellas County. The location at 725 6th Ave South features 18 private exam rooms, 47 infusion chairs and on-site PET/CT imaging. The facility offers advanced treatments including bispecific therapies and clinical trial participation, with plans to expand outpatient cell therapy programmes. Six board-certified medical oncologists and haematologists, supported by four advanced practice practitioners, provide care through a collaborative, patient-centred model.
