Roadside Attractions and Vertical announce the arrival of "Babies" By SHOOT Friday, August 28, 2026 3 Views LOS ANGELES - Ahead of its world premiere as a Gala Presentation at the Toronto International Film Festival, Roadside Attractions and Vertical acquired the U.S. Rights to Babies, writer/director Lauren Miller Rogen's (Like Father, For A Good Time, Call...) sharply observed ensemble that deliberates one of modern adulthood's biggest questions: "Should we have children?" The Roy Thomson Hall World Premiere of Babies on September 12th will mark exactly one year since AGC and CAA launched worldwide sales on the film at a distributor presentation during TIFF 2025 - a yearly cycle that the Festival organizers hope will become a familiar one for indie films following the launch of an official market at the festival this year. Starring Academy Award(R) nominee Anna Kendrick (Woman of the Hour), Golden Globe(R) and Emmy Award(R) winner Seth Rogen (The Studioe), Golden Globe(R) and Emmy Award(R) nominee Issa Rae (Insecure), Dan Stevens (Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire), Emmy Award(R) nominee Kate Berlant, Emmy Award(R) nominee Zach Cherry (Severance), SAG(R) Award nominee Ed Helms (The Hangover), Tony Award(R) nominee Ashley Park (Emily in Paris), with Academy Award(R) nominee Sharon Stone and Academy Award(R) nominee David Strathairn (Good Night, and Good Luck), Babies will be released theatrically in 2027. A happily married couple (Anna Kendrick, Seth Rogen) surrounded by friends with kids are forced to confront their indecision about becoming parents when their divorced friend (Kate Berlant) and her daughter move in with them. Babies is an honest and heartfelt comedy about defining what we really want for ourselves and the truths about parenthood that most people are too polite to say out loud. Lauren Miller Rogen stated, "Every woman I know has been asked around 1 billion times if they're going to have children. For some, the answer is obvious. For me, it was a lot more complicated. Babies is the exploration of the funny, weird, and life-changing things that happened to me along the way to the answer. I feel so fortunate that Roadside and Vertical believe in the movie as much as I do and am thrilled to have them as partners in bringing it to theaters." In a joint statement, Roadside Attractions co-presidents Howard Cohen and Eric d'Arbeloff and Vertical chairman Rich Goldberg and CEO & partner Peter Jarowey said, "Lauren has made the kind of smart, perceptive comedy theatrical audiences rarely get anymore - one that stands in the tradition of the great Hollywood films that dare to examine the way we live now. Babies taps into a conversation happening everywhere, finding humor in the pressures, expectations, and contradictions of modern adulthood. It's poignant, hilarious, deeply relatable, and brought to life by an extraordinary ensemble cast." Monarch Media and AGC Studios co-financed and produced Babies with LYLAS Pictures. The film was produced by LYLAS Pictures' Lauren Miller Rogen and Jen W. Ray, Monarch's Steve Barnett and AGC's Stuart Ford, and executive produced by Monarch's Vicky Patel and Alan Powell, AGC's Miguel A. Palos, Jr. and Zach Garrett, and LYLAS' Sophie Høegh. Additional below-the-line talent includes Goya Award(R)-winning cinematographer Eduard Grau (The Room Next Door), Academy Award(R) nominated editor Joi McMillon (Moontlight), Emmy Award(R)-winning production designer Julie Berghoff (The Studio), and Academy Award(R) nominated costume designer Danny Glicker (Milk), with casting by Emmy Award(R) nominees Lindsay Graham and Mary Vernieu (Remarkably Bright Creatures) and music by Nami Melumad (Griffin in Summer). The deal was negotiated by Roadside Attractions co-president Howard Cohen, CEO and partner Peter Jarowey on behalf of Vertical, and AGC's Anant Tamirisa. CAA Media Finance negotiated on behalf of the filmmakers. REGISTRATION REQUIRED to access this page. Registration is FREE and FAST. Friday, August 28, 2026 Actors Willem Dafoe, Jonathan Bailey and Peter Dinklage have joined the voice cast of Starburns Industries' "Lincoln in the Bardo," based on acclaimed author George Saunders' New York Times bestseller and 2017 Booker Prize-winner. Saunders adapted the screenplay, with Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Duke Johnson directing. It was announced earlier that Tom Hanks stars as the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, in the live action portion of the film. CAA Media Finance and WME Independent are handling sales at the upcoming TIFF: The Market. The film employs a unique blend of stop-motion animation and live action to explore one of the most intimate moments of Lincoln's life, centering on his relationship with his recently deceased eleven-year-old son. Blending history and imagination, the story unfolds through an unforgettable ensemble of characters - living and dead, historical and invented - to explore themes of love, empathy, and the human capacity for connection in the face of unimaginable grief. Reverend Everly Thomas - the ghost of a minister who died believing he would go to heaven, but, to his dismay, found out otherwise - is voiced by Dafoe. Bailey is voicing Roger Bevins, the ghost of a young gay man who took his own life over a failed love affair and instantly regretted it. Dinklage is voicing Hans Vollman, a ghost obsessed with his dream of being reunited with his much-younger wife.
UTA expands London team with two new agents. LONDON (vip-booking) - United Talent Agency (UTA) has expanded its London music operation with the appointment of agents Becky Drouet and Anthony Brown, as part of a wider round of six executive hires and 11 internal promotions across its music division. Brown joins UTA after more than 13 years at CAA, where he worked on global touring strategies for international artists, with a particular focus on hip-hop and R&B. Drouet arrives after 18 years at LPO, where she booked major tours and live events for international artists. At UTA, she will work across touring as well as the agency's corporate and private events business. The appointments further strengthen UTA's UK and European music team following the promotion of James Wright to Co-Head of UK Music last month. Three of the agency's 11 newly promoted coordinators are also based in London: Dylan Bryant, Brooke Newton and Emily Rhodes. The wider coordinator group will support agents and executives across touring, marketing, brand partnerships, music crossover and A&R. "We're thrilled to welcome this exceptional group of agents and executives to UTA Music, and look forward to working together in support of our clients," said Sam Kirby Yoh and David Zedeck, Co-Heads of Global Music at UTA. The agency has also added Chris Anderson, Randy Freedman, Jordan Golenberg and Lauren Katzakian to its Los Angeles office.
Beyond the Spotlight: Women Shaping the Future of Media. By Shiko Njoroge August 14, 2026 5 Mins Read As part of an ongoing effort to celebrate the women and queer women reshaping media, GLAAD, in partnership with Creative Artists Agency (CAA), hosted Beyond the Spotlight: Women Shaping the Future of Media Mixer, a conversation and networking evening spotlighting leaders across entertainment, podcasting, gaming, digital media, and local news. Held on July 30 at the Ray Kurtzman Theater at Creative Artist Agency (CAA) in Los Angeles, the panel brought together four accomplished creators and entrepreneurs whose work continues to expand who gets to tell stories, and how those stories get told. Doors opened to a full house, and by the time the evening moved into its networking mixer, it was clear the conversation had struck a nerve in the best possible way. Award-winning journalist and cultural critic Shar Jossell moderated the discussion, guiding a candid conversation with Youth Dealer Co. founder Brandi Andrews, WNBA legend turned filmmaker Angel McCoughtry, Black Girl Gamers founder Jay-Ann Lopez, and Hello Fallon Entertainment founder Fallon Jethroe. Throughout the evening, panelists reflected on what it takes to build a career in industries that weren't originally designed with them in mind. Brandi spoke about the importance of creating genuine spaces of safety and representation, not just symbolic ones, describing the goal as building rooms where people could simply "move in their own skin." Jay-Ann shared how Black Girl Gamers grew out of the need for community among Black women in gaming, and spoke candidly about the resilience it takes to keep building in public, online harassment included, while staying rooted in the integrity of the work. "I'm still here," she said, "and the work has to be done." Fallon talked about founding her own production company so she could shape who sits in the room, from casting to crew, making it a point to advocate for guests who reflect the full range of who her audience actually is. And Angel shared how an athletic career that began at age eight evolved, after two ACL tears, into a second act as a director and producer, guided along the way by mentors like Dawn Staley and Gina Prince-Bythewood. Her advice to anyone hesitating to make the leap was simple: "The worst they can say is no, but let's try." A recurring thread ran through the conversation: mentorship as something to actively seek out and then pay forward, the discipline of negotiating for more than just a paycheck, and the confidence to know when the answer is no. Panelists traded stories with warmth and humor as much as honesty, laughing through some memories and getting visibly emotional through others, and the room responded in kind. Several attendees told the GLAAD team afterward that it was one of the best panels they'd ever attended, and more than a few stayed well into the mixer to keep the conversation going one on one. Conversations like this one are exactly why GLAAD does this work. When women and queer women are given the space to tell their own stories, on their own terms, audiences gain a fuller picture of resilience, ambition, and community. That kind of authentic storytelling doesn't just entertain, it expands visibility, challenges harmful narratives, and drives the cultural shifts that matter, including how Gay And Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, Inc talk about issues like HIV stigma with accuracy and dignity. Thank you to its partners at CAA, and to Shar, Brandi, Angel, Jay-Ann, and Fallon for such a generous and memorable evening. Evenings like this one are a reminder of how much is possible when the right people are given the mic and the room to match. Gay And Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, Inc is already looking forward to the next one. Winston Duke signs with UTA for representation. July 29, 2026 New Representation Type: Agency Department: Film/TV - Theatrical * Winston Duke has signed with United Talent Agency (UTA) for representation in all areas, leaving WME. * His UTA team includes agents Billy Lazarus, David Morris IV, Erik Telford, Hanley Baxter and Yasmine Pearl. * Duke keeps Shafran PR for publicity. * UTA will also help build out Duke's Papa Bois Productions banner, on top of his return as M'Baku in Avengers: Doomsday and Ryan Coogler's Black Panther 3. Winston Duke has signed with UTA for representation in all areas, exiting from from WME. He continues to be represented by Shafran PR. Duke, born in Tobago and raised in Brooklyn, broke out as M'Baku in Marvel's Black Panther, which grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide in 2018. He reprised the role in Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, where M'Baku becomes King of Wakanda. Duke returns as M'Baku in December's Avengers: Doomsday, and it was confirmed at Comic-Con that he'll appear in Ryan Coogler's Black Panther 3, due in 2028. Following his breakout in Black Panther, Duke starred opposite Lupita Nyong'o in Jordan Peele's Us, which brought in close to $260 million globally in 2019. Duke's new UTA team (Billy Lazarus, David Morris IV, Erik Telford, Hanley Baxter, and Yasmine Pearl) will also partner with him on Papa Bois Productions, his label for documentary, TV and feature projects. Up next, Duke lends his voice to the animated film Slime, alongside Teyana Taylor, LaKeith Stanfield, Kid Cudi and Willow Smith. The signing fits a busy July for UTA. Earlier in the month, Anthony Ramos left CAA for UTA. Days later, Breaking Bad's Giancarlo Esposito parted ways with CAA to sign with UTA too. UTA just landed one of Marvel's most bankable supporting stars right as his highest-stakes stretch begins; two more Black Panther-universe films are on the way. That's a strong bet on a franchise that isn't slowing down. The signing also reads as part of a bigger pattern: UTA has now pulled three high-profile names (Duke, Ramos, and Esposito) away from rival agencies in a matter of weeks, all in July 2026 alone. UTA isn't just chasing acting credits here. By stepping in to help grow Papa Bois Productions, the agency is betting on Duke's future as a producer, not just an actor - a move that mirrors how agencies increasingly court talent as multi-hyphenate businesses rather than single-lane clients. Is UTA's July signing spree a sign of a broader shift in agency power, or a short-term hot streak? Could Duke's expanding Papa Bois Productions slate eventually rival his acting output in industry attention?
