Requirements
  • Two years of experience performing various maintenance and labor work.
  • Knowledge of equipment and tools used in various construction repairs.
  • Knowledge, use, care of hand and power tools, such as jackhammer, cement mixer, and power auger
  • Knowledge of surface preparation/adaptability of various surface materials
  • Knowledge of standard colors, configuration, and placement of lane markings and traffic signs.

  • Ability to read and understand maps and applications (MAPSCO or other maps).
  • Ability to operate a variety of simple to complex power tools or power equipment used in construction or landscaping.
  • Ability to perform a variety of moderate to heavy physical labor for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and work with heavy equipment.
  • Ability to follow drawings, designs, and oral/written instructions from a supervisor, which has several steps, procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Performs maintained work setting forms, mixing and pouring concrete, spreading and laying asphalt, and spreading crack seal for the maintenance and repair of sidewalks, curbs, and gutters or streets; operates air and jack hammer to break out old concrete or asphalt when making repairs.
  • Lays various pipes for storm or sanitary sewers, drains, and water mains to ensure proper flow is maintained.
  • Loads and unloads tools, construction material, and equipment onto trucks to ensure necessary tools are available for repairs to be made.
  • Flags traffic and sets out barricades, cones or other safety devices to help ensure the safety of the crew and the public
  • Digs ditches and trenches grading to specific evaluation; trims, shovels, cuts, and cleans up debris and removes vegetation.
  • Assists in cleaning drainage ditches, inlets, storm drains, and sewer lines using various power operated equipment to remove debris or stoppage.
  • Drives dump truck, tractor driven mowers, or other equipment to transport tools, equipment, supplies, or material to and from the work site.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure proper operating conditions; tracks inventory of equipment and follows safety and disposal guidelines for chemicals and other repair fluids.
  • Cuts grass, removes litter and weeds, cleans floors and facility grounds to maintain upkeep of facility, street medians, and vacant lots removing any hazards and ensuring safety of tenants; provides landscape maintenance at golf course and on other public areas.
  • Performs Facility Safety Inspections, MED Inspections, and checks for fire extinguishers; reports any problems to supervisor.
  • Performs other work as needed or assigned.

City of Dallas partners with IKE Smart City, brings digital kiosks. The City of Dallas is partnering with IKE Smart City to bring interactive digital kiosks to the city. The kiosks, which will be placed on streets, will help residents and visitors navigate the city, discover local businesses and access free Wi-Fi. Before locations are finalized, the city is hosting community engagement sessions where residents can learn more about the project and share feedback. The meeting dates are: * Monday, March 30, 2026, at 6 p.m.: Lake Highlands North Recreation Center * Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 6 p.m.: J. DHA, Housing Solutions for North Texas collaborates with Dallas Fire Rescue to provide first responder training at Cliff Manor. DHA supports DFR's training goals with realistic high-rise training environment DALLAS-(BUSINESS WIRE)-DHA, Housing Solutions for North Texas (DHA), announced today a successful collaboration with Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) to provide Cliff Manor as a unique, practical first responder training venue. DHA is in the process of demolishing Cliff Manor apartments located in Oak Cliff, which has been vacated. Dallas Fire-Rescue was able to utilize the building to provide a realistic high-rise training environment for its Special Operations Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) and Rapid Intervention Team. "The opportunity to utilize a multi-story structure and train in a real-world environment is invaluable to our members," said Scott Pacot, Assistant Chief of Operations for Dallas Fire-Rescue. Share Cliff Manor, constructed in 1974, is being prepared for redevelopment due to aging infrastructure and the evolving needs of the surrounding community. Before the next phase of the demolition work begins, DFR's Special Operations teams used the building to conduct physical training exercises, ensuring its teams are prepared for the most complex emergencies. The training provides invaluable hands-on experience that ensures every firefighter is prepared to deal with real life incidents such as extricating victims from damaged or collapsed structures and performing high-angle and low-angle rescues. "The opportunity to utilize a multi-story structure and train in a real-world environment is invaluable to our members," said Scott Pacot, Assistant Chief of Operations for Dallas Fire-Rescue. "This collaboration has allowed our teams to hone critical skills and gain valuable experience that can be deployed during real-life emergencies."
