Requirements
  • The ideal candidate is an excellent teacher who holds a Ph.D. or terminal degree with teaching/research interests primarily in Communication & Speech Studies and Professional Communication.
Responsibilities
  • Teach the basic courses within the undergraduate degree in Communication & Speech Studies, which includes SPE 208 (Speech for Business and the Professions) and SPE 200 (Oral Communication).
  • Possibly teach upper division undergraduate courses in the Communication and Speech Studies program and in the graduate program in Professional Communication (MAPC).
  • Provide instruction as part of a teaching-focused faculty role, emphasizing teaching-and-learning, mentoring, and student engagement.
  • Teach four courses (sixteen credit hours) per semester over two fifteen-week semesters per academic year.
  • Support the growth of the Communication and Speech Studies program and engage in on-campus engagement and conference activity.
  • Engage students in learning-by-doing and scholarship, and participate in conference activity.

  • Commitment to excellence in teaching as demonstrated by evidence of effective teaching and student engagement.
  • Proven experience engaging students in learning-by-doing, on-campus engagement, scholarship, and conference activity.
  • Ability to teach both basic undergraduate courses and potential upper-division and graduate courses.
