  • Associate’s degree and 2-4 years’ relevant experience or an equivalent combination, including formal training beyond high school diploma/GED or college coursework
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members
  • Aptitude to express thoughts clearly, both orally and in writing
  • Aptitude to adapt to changing priorities, situations and demands
  • Commitment to safety of personnel and equipment
  • Experience operating lab equipment, diagnosing problems in a technical setting, following protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
  • Willing and able to work shifts and weekends as needed for 24/7 operation

Responsibilities
  • Operate a particle accelerator, following standard procedures for turning on and turning off radiation equipment, attending to common alarms, and troubleshooting equipment issues
  • Operate electronic test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators, and diagnose problems with the experimental equipment
  • Serve as part of a 24/7 facility support team including working on weekends and holidays as needed to ensure safety and operations
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field
  • Experience in a laboratory or machine shop setting
  • Experience with electronic circuits
  • Basic experience with Linux or C
  • 2 years’ experience or training in the use of electronic test equipment or sophisticated scientific equipment
