  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or other related field with 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience
  • OR: Master's degree in one of the fields above with 2 years of progressively responsible professional experience
  • OR: 7 years of progressively responsible professional experience in a related field may be substituted for the required education, at management discretion
  • Valid Florida driver's license by date of hire
Responsibilities
  • Supervise and maintain all functions related to the Countywide Fixed Assets program, including policy and procedure oversight
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting, Auditing, and Financial Reporting (GAAFR), and county fixed asset policies through research, review, and technical data analysis
  • Oversee annual audits, inventory controls, and year-end close-out processes, including reconciliations and reporting between systems
  • Develop and implement division goals, objectives, business plans, and budgets
  • Supervise, mentor, train, and evaluate assigned staff, partnering with HR on employee relations matters
  • Implement process improvements to enhance asset management and reporting efficiency
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for fixed assets, providing guidance, advanced analysis, and technical expertise
  • Serve as liaison with internal departments, vendors, elected officials, citizens, and the Office of the County Attorney
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, including to the Board of County Commissioners
  • Manage fraud prevention, risk mitigation, and compliance assessments, reviewing and addressing audit findings
Desired Qualifications
  • 2 (or more) years of supervisory experience
  • 3 (or more) years of experience in governmental fixed asset reporting procedures
  • Knowledge of local government asset management principles, practices, and techniques, including methodology, auditing, and recording requirements
  • Skilled in collecting, compiling, analyzing, and interpreting data, with strong quantitative analysis abilities
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with diverse audiences at all organizational levels
