Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field

  • The position requires ability to read and understand study protocols and SOPs for procedures for acquisition, processing, storage, accountability, shipping, and documentation of biological specimens

Responsibilities
  • Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures
  • Participates in the publication of significant results
  • Maintains an overview of relevant research findings
  • Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice
  • Keeps abreast of current publications relative to methods, techniques, and developments within the area of research
  • Collects, prepares, analyzes, dissects, and evaluates specimens or tissue cultures
  • Operates and maintains laboratory equipment
  • Performs a variety of routine assays, tests, and studies
  • Performs calculations to complete research test results, collects data, and performs statistical analysis of laboratory results
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets
  • Directly responsible for properly managing and supervising the acquisition, processing, storage, accountability, shipping, and documentation of biological specimens
  • Responsible for reading and understanding the study protocol and SOPs for procedures for the acquisition, processing, storage, accountability, shipping, and documentation of biological specimens for each study protocol prior to conducting any procedures
  • Directly responsible for proper shipping. All samples to be shipped will be inventoried by the Research Associate
  • Orders laboratory supplies as needed
  • Attends and participates in sponsor meetings and training groups as requested
  • Keeps detailed notebooks and records of all scientific experiments and regularly presents research results in lab meetings
  • Other duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience in lab preferred
  • Knowledge of molecular biology techniques preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in science and some prior work in a lab are absolutely required
  • Ability to communicate effectively and in writing, and in English
  • Familiarity with documentation and sample tracking procedures
  • Experience reading and understanding study protocols and SOPs
  • Experience with shipping biological samples
  • Experience attending sponsor meetings and training groups
