Requirements
  • Two to four years of experience as a Windows and VMware Administrator.
  • Knowledge of managing virtualized VMware operating systems.
  • Experience deploying and maintaining Cloud and on-premises platforms.
  • Experience managing proactive monitoring and alerting to ensure system uptime.
  • Understanding of major cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • High level troubleshooting skills at the Operating System, virtualization, and hardware layers.
  • Understanding of PowerShell Scripting.
  • Understanding of networking topology and protocols.
  • Understanding of Service Level Agreement terms.
  • Proven track record working in a global and multicultural environment.
  • Ability to work in 24X7 shifts and an on-call schedule.
  • Willingness to undertake training to ensure skills remain current.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and document system specifications and technical architecture documentation.
  • Implement hardware and operating systems while maintaining high operational uptime and stringent Service Level Agreements.
  • Coordinate with applications and database teams on operational and project-based tasks.
  • Evaluate end user needs and goals in conjunction with application parameters to define overall system requirements and technical design.
  • Evaluate existing systems and design or flowchart proposed systems.
  • Install, monitor, and manage servers and customer endpoints, resolving issues as needed.
  • Install system and application patches and perform system backups and recovery.
  • Monitor system configuration and manage log files.
  • Develop user guides and technical procedures.
  • Ensure system security through proactive security patch management.
  • Monitor existing infrastructure and usage to optimize the system for quality user experience.
  • Document internal policies.
  • Make recommendations on potential solutions by defining database physical structure, functional capabilities, security, and recovery specifications.
  • Generate usage reports for submission to leadership.
  • Manage upgrades and monitor production servers for performance, business continuity, disaster recovery, and security.
  • Build and deploy server and multi-client images, including wireless support, in conjunction with software and hardware product development.
  • Maintain Windows Server 2012 through 2022 and related services such as File, Print, and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol servers.
  • Maintain VMware vSphere platform and related services.
  • Manage work queues for Windows and VMware incidents, problems, changes, tasks, and requests.
  • Prioritize and respond to help desk tickets as appropriate.

April 7, 2026- Darby Thompson is joining Owens & Minor as Vice President (VP), Strategic Business Development and will report to Dean Huibregtse, Senior Vice President (SVP) Strategic Business Development. After working in various Commercial Account roles at Owens & Minor in the early 2000s, Darby went on to lead business development strategies in the industry and most recently served as the Director of Health System Strategy at Hanger Clinic. He is bringing his over 25 years of healthcare experience and a proven track record in business development with IDNs and GPOs to Owens & Minor.
