Requirements
  • Verifiable industrial work experience in the welding and fabrication industry.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, and SAW on plate and pipe, as well as plasma and oxy-acetylene cutting procedures.
  • Successful completion of a supervised weld test on site.
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading and pipefitting theory and its application.
  • Availability to support afternoon or evening classes on a rotating basis.
  • Ability to complete federal Employment Eligibility Verification and provide original documents proving identity and authorization to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality instruction and facilitate student learning.
  • Develop course syllabi and instructional plans, and organize daily classes using varied instructional techniques.
  • Tailor teaching methods to diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Interpret and administer assessments, provide constructive feedback, and evaluate teaching strategies.
  • Integrate technology to enhance learning experiences.
  • Maintain accurate student records and the instructional environment, emphasizing safety and equipment security.
  • Advise students and collaborate with the Office of Student Success on tutoring and retention programs.
  • Participate in tours, recruitment events, and department or program recruitment planning.
  • Maintain availability for evening, weekend, or summer assignments as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate service to students, parents, employers, media, coworkers, and other members of the public.
  • Act as an ambassador for the welding program and Texas State Technical College.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least two years of teaching experience.
  • Non-Destructive Testing and Evaluation experience and a strong metallurgical background.
  • At least three years of industrial experience in the welding and fabrication industry.
  • AWS D1.1 or D9.1 certifications.
  • NCCER certification.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
