Requirements
  • One to two years of post-high-school education.
  • One year of experience in a similar role.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting and hospitality practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of hotel and company policies and procedures, with the ability to determine appropriate action under those guidelines.
  • Ability to compile facts and figures.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including Excel and Word, preferred.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze current activities or information involving readily available data and draw logical conclusions and recommendations.
  • Ability to make decisions based on general policies and procedures.
  • Ability to operate a computer and calculator.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions, communicate verbally and in writing, use analytical thought processes, understand technical and mechanical instructions, and remain highly organized.

Responsibilities
  • Process the daily income audit in conjunction with night auditors and department managers to maximize revenues and ensure posting accuracy.
  • Coordinate with sales managers to ensure accurate and timely group billing, and follow up on and manage hotel accounts receivable aging.
  • Assist in training other departments on accounting practices to support understanding of standard operating procedures and compliance audit requirements.
  • Analyze financial data, resolve discrepancies, and provide recommendations for changes and efficiencies.
  • Create and deliver payroll and daily revenue reports to department managers, and follow up on report discrepancies.
  • Balance, reconcile, and close various daily accounts and prepare daily statements while maintaining proper controls.
  • Respond quickly and efficiently to customer issues, complaints, and problems to maintain customer satisfaction and service quality.
  • Prepare reports and communications for the Controller, Assistant Controller, and Hotel Executive Committee regarding revenue issues, problems, and other pertinent information.
  • Process payroll according to compliance standards and deadlines.
  • Input and reconcile daily tip reporting.
  • Distribute payroll according to applicable standards and deadlines.
  • Maintain the property's income audit, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll system, and general cashier functions accurately and timely according to accounting policies and procedures.
  • Sort documents and post debits and credits to the proper accounts.
  • Verify amounts and codes on forms for accuracy.
  • Balance entries and make necessary corrections.
  • Maintain and adjust records and logs, including journals, payroll or time reports, and property records.
  • Verify and reconcile simple bank statements or department records.
  • Perform other duties assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management.
