Intermountain Health becomes first US health system to deploy Claire AI imaging for breast cancer surgery

Intermountain Health has become the first US health system to commercially deploy Perimeter Medical Imaging AI's Claire OCT System, the only FDA-approved AI-enabled imaging device for margin assessment during breast-conserving surgery. The technology uses optical coherence tomography and AI to help surgeons detect microscopic cancer in real-time during operations. About one in five patients requires follow-up breast cancer surgeries because cancer isn't detected during the initial procedure. Claire addresses this by providing cellular-level tissue visualization whilst AI flags areas of concern, helping surgeons make more informed decisions while patients remain in surgery. The system is currently deployed at LDS Hospital and American Fork Hospital as part of Intermountain Health's systemwide agreement with Perimeter. Intermountain Health is a nonprofit system operating 34 hospitals and approximately 400 clinics across six states.

10 US hospitals offer pancreatic cancer drug that doubled survival to 13.2 months

Ten Intermountain Health hospitals across Colorado, Montana, and Utah are joining a national programme to offer eligible patients with advanced pancreatic cancer access to daraxonrasib, an investigational drug that nearly doubled survival rates in clinical trials. The oral therapy targets KRAS mutations present in over 90% of pancreatic cancers. A study of 500 patients found daraxonrasib increased survival time from 6.7 months to 13.2 months when used as second-line treatment for metastatic disease. "This is a true paradigm shift in how we treat pancreatic cancer," said Dr Mark Lewis, director of gastrointestinal oncology at Intermountain Health. The drug received a standing ovation when results were presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology conference in May. Pancreatic cancer affects approximately 67,000 Americans annually and is the third leading cause of cancer deaths in the US.

Intermountain Health breaks ground on new Fruita clinic.

Intermountain Health breaks ground on new Fruita clinic. Posted: Aug 10, 2026 / 04:18 PM MDT Updated: Aug 10, 2026 / 04:18 PM MDT FRUITA, Colo. (KREX) - On Monday, Intermountain Health held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new primary care clinic located in Fruita. "We're really excited to be out here today for the formal groundbreaking," said Joya Boyd, executive director of Intermountain Health Medical Group. "This clinic has been in the works for several years now." Boyd says the clinic will have eight providers and offer several different services. "We'll have primary care services, walk-in services, along with rotating specialists that will include OB-GYN and cardiology," Boyd said. Fruita Mayor Matthew Breman says as Fruita continues to grow, he's grateful for the clinic's addition to make sure residents have adequate healthcare close to home. "Having access to healthcare close to home for our residents means just that: they'll have the ability to have their best life without having to travel to access really high-quality healthcare," Breman said. Boyd says it was important to Intermountain Health to build the clinic for that exact reason. "We try to make health care simple and easy to access, and so we're hoping that the Fruita residents feel that... We're an organization that prides itself on high-quality care and so we're excited to get to expand that to the Fruita community," Boyd says. The clinic will be located at 502 Kokopelli Drive and is expected to open in May or June of 2027.

Intermountain Health opens multi-specialty clinic in southwest Las Vegas.

Intermountain Health opens multi-specialty clinic in southwest Las Vegas. A new 90,000-square-foot facility brings primary care, oncology, labs and more under one roof Posted 7:33 PM, Jul 30, 2026 LAS VEGAS (KTNV) - Intermountain Health has opened a new multi-specialty clinic in southwest Las Vegas, giving residents access to a wide range of medical services without traveling across the valley. The Badura Clinic held a ribbon cutting to mark its official opening. The 90,000-square-foot, three-story facility is Intermountain Health's first ground-up construction project in Nevada. Robert Kurly, a 75-year-old colon cancer patient diagnosed in 2020 during the pandemic, was among those celebrating the opening. He said the new facility has already changed how he receives care. WATCH | Intermountain Health opens multi-specialty clinic in southwest Las Vegas. "Most of my treatments are here, matter of fact all of them are," Kurly said. Kurly said he believes he was among the clinic's first patients to receive chemotherapy in the building. "I'm here at least four times a month," Kurly said. The clinic offers primary care for adults, seniors and children, women's health, oncology, radiation therapy, infusion services and on-site labs - all in one location. Marlee Beauchamp, a physician assistant at the clinic, said the setup makes it easier to connect patients with the care they need quickly. "I just refer a patient upstairs to the gynecologist, downstairs we got oncology... we have family medicine next door, pediatrics down the hall, labs on site. Tons of options," Beauchamp said. Beauchamp said the convenience is especially meaningful for patients who face transportation challenges. "Being here makes a huge difference. It decreases drive time for so many of our patients who have limited rides or use RTC for transport," Beauchamp said. For Kurly, the new clinic means less time on the road and more focus on his health. He said recent lab results brought encouraging news. "My bloodwork on Monday, my CEA level, which is a cancer level that they take were 8 and on Monday it was 6, so that's really good news," Kurly said. Intermountain Health says the Badura Clinic is now open and accepting patients of all ages.
