Requirements
- A professional vocational diploma and/or relevant experience in the field is required.
- Considerable knowledge of the tools and equipment used and required to overhaul, repair, and maintain heavy equipment is required.
- Experience resolving hydraulic and electrical system problems is required.
- A journeyperson or apprentice card for heavy equipment mechanic is required.
- An ASP Construction card is required.
Responsibilities
- Determine the condition of heavy equipment on the construction site by performing inspections and tests to identify damaged or worn parts.
- Replace defective parts, components, or systems using the appropriate tools.
- Maintain a preventive-maintenance schedule for all equipment, including lubrication, tire replacement, and tune-ups.
- Perform hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic troubleshooting on air-conditioning systems and grease systems.
