Position Purpose:
The Tax Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting the Tax Compliance team within Tax Operations, reporting directly to the Tax Director. Responsibilities include driving the tax compliance process, acting as a liaison with the external tax consultants with the preparation & review of corporate income tax returns (Federal, State & International), reviewing estimate/extension income tax payment calculations (Federal, State & International). The Tax Manager will evaluate tax implications of the company’s activities and assist in developing strategies to minimize tax obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
- 80% Tax Planning, Accounting, Research, Compliance, and Audit Defense as needed to meet the goals of the Department. May serve as principal contact on one or more projects with governmental officials, outside counsel, and business partners. May lead special studies to determine tax implications of company operations. May be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely filing of tax returns, and for the accurate statement of accounting reserves, including FAS 109 and FIN 48 where applicable. May serve as laison between SSC and subsidiarily businesses in the US and internationally.
- 10% Participation on cross-functional teams as a subject-matter expert
- 10% Coaching and mentoring of associates in the department
Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
- Reports to Senior Manager or Director
- Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others. Planning, monitoring and reviewing work of subordinates is required. This may include direct supervision of a shift or the coordination of multiple work groups. Makes recommendations concerning selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development.
Travel Requirements:
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions:
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA, CMI, or JD Strongly Preferred
- MACc, MBA or MTAX Preferred
- 5-8 years Experience Preferred
