- Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
- Meet all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Baptist Health, Orlando Health, and the assigned unit or department.
- Maintain a current State of Alabama registered nurse license or valid Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact multistate registered nurse license.
- Maintain current Basic Life Support/Healthcare Provider certification.
- Maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, or Trauma Nursing Core Course certification when required for the assigned area.
- Assess patients’ needs and develop or revise individualized plans of care based on patient needs and responses, evaluating progress toward expected outcomes.
- Build respectful relationships with all team members and customers while respecting diversity.
- Act as a patient and family advocate.
- Provide age-appropriate care based on the needs of patients in the assigned unit or department.
- Serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, or nurse clinician.
- Communicate and collaborate with medical staff and the interdisciplinary team to plan and manage the unit or department effectively.
- Serve as a role model for staff and support hospital and nursing department goals and strategies.
- Apply growth and development principles across the lifespan, assess patient-status data, and interpret information needed to identify age-specific patient requirements.
- Coordinate care and delegate appropriately to other team members for a defined group of patients.
- Document patient care, including assessments, education, medication administration, treatments, and patient safety activities, in accordance with required and regulatory standards.
- Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and use of patient-care and unit equipment required by the unit or department.
- Prioritize patient care continuously in accordance with evidence-based practice standards of care.
- Identify and resolve problems effectively.
- Delegate tasks and duties to healthcare team members according to patient needs and each team member’s capabilities and qualifications.
- Communicate relevant information about patient conditions or unit concerns to other healthcare team members.
- Provide a compassionate and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
- Maintain awareness of legal issues and patients’ rights.
- Collaborate with the education department and nursing leadership team to transition and support new team members and students.
- Maintain compliance with Baptist Health and Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Partner with the nursing leadership team to identify professional development needs.
