Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the Student Success Center’s daily operations, including student programming, academic support services, and triage.
  • Coordinate programming efforts to support students and increase the Center’s visibility.
  • Partner with colleagues to develop and implement student success initiatives.
  • Respond to inquiries from students, families, faculty, and other college personnel.
  • Promote the Center’s resources and achievements to external audiences.
  • Work collaboratively with coaches to carry out the mission, goals, and outcomes of the Student Success Center.
  • Provide staff development, including hiring, mentoring, and evaluating student staff.
  • Compile administrative withdrawal data, send hiatus letters, and reach out to faculty advisors to support academic advising.
  • Promote and contribute to existing student success efforts, assess their effectiveness, and implement new initiatives.
  • Provide comprehensive academic coaching to a caseload of referred students.
  • Manage the caseload through consistent direct contact with students and targeted outreach at key points in the semester.
  • Troubleshoot registration, billing, and financial aid issues for students.
  • Assess learner needs to support informed pathway decisions and progress toward academic, personal, and professional goals.
  • Develop relationships with identified students that encourage continued academic coaching in future semesters as needed.
  • Help students develop self-efficacy, overcome obstacles to academic success, and strengthen time management, organization, self-regulation, and ownership of academic success.
  • Engage at-risk students through one-on-one intrusive advising meetings to improve engagement and ensure success.
  • Connect students with campus resources related to tutoring, spiritual support, disability services, counseling and health, housing and food insecurity, career planning, and finances.
  • Partner with faculty, academic advisors, and campus colleagues regarding Student of Concern referrals.
  • Assist instructors with follow-up for students referred through the Student of Concern process for excessive absences or unsatisfactory grades.
  • Record applicable interventions via Maxient.
  • Monitor early alerts, absences, grade point average risk factors, DFW rates, and withdrawal patterns to identify students at risk for attrition.
  • Coordinate campus-wide retention initiatives with the Director of Student Success and other stakeholders.
  • Compile academic standing data and notify undergraduates each semester when they are not in good academic standing.
  • Refine programming for students on probation, assign counselors to support them, and provide ongoing counselor training.
  • Lead targeted persistence campaigns at key transition points, including first-year to sophomore retention, post-hiatus return, and academic warning or probation.
  • Analyze retention and persistence trends to inform programming, resource allocation, and interventions.
  • Collaborate with Academic Deans, Class Deans, Enrollment Management, Financial Aid, Housing, Athletics, and other departments to coordinate outreach and resolve persistence barriers.
  • Serve as the Student Success representative on the retention committee.
  • Implement holistic retention-support best practices addressing academic, social, financial, and wellbeing risk factors.
  • Contribute retention data insights during departmental and campus-wide meetings.
  • Organize the hiring, supervision, and regular training of student tutors.
  • Oversee tutor payroll and monitor the associated budget.
  • Coordinate study groups with departments and learning communities, including hiring, training, payroll, and record maintenance for peer leaders and sessions.
  • Seek faculty input on tutoring effectiveness and operations.
  • Serve as a liaison to other Le Moyne College programs regarding academic support issues and scheduling.
  • Maintain tutoring data and provide regular reports and assessments.
  • Meet regularly with the Director of Student Success to discuss retention data and efforts.
  • Participate in Student Success Center staff meetings and retreats and provide informed feedback and initiatives.
  • Serve on key campus committees related to student success.
  • Attend division- and campus-wide meetings to remain current on college initiatives, student demographics, program offerings, and trends.
  • Review student success best practices and relay pertinent information to campus partners.
  • Manage confidential student information in compliance with FERPA regulations.
  • Develop and maintain accurate, organized, and detailed records for students who have sought assistance.
  • Create and maintain student plans with the Director of the Student Success Center, adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Monitor student academic progress by compiling, analyzing, and reporting progress using available databases and resources, including Phinfo, Datatel, Informer, WCOnline, and CampusGroups.
  • Assess student attrition risk and vulnerability and intervene at critical points in students’ educational paths.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Education, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working directly with college students, preferably with transfer, non-traditional, and/or under-represented student populations, concerning academic success.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Datatel Student Management Software, and familiarity with Course Management Software such as Canvas, Informer, and Slate.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends to accommodate student needs and programming.
