The Waste Management Supervisor is responsible for supporting operations in the management of waste generated under commissioning operations. The Waste Management Supervisor will be directly responsible for daily management of all waste generated at the WTP site. These activities include but are not limited to Labeling and packaging of waste, and all waste inspection requirements. The Waste Management Supervisor is fully responsible for coordinating of Waste Handlers activities within the assigned scope and provides direction to waste generators for the management of waste as needed. The position ensures work executed by waste management staff and waste generators is in accordance with applicable project procedures, policies and all applicable laws, regulations, Contract, Authorization Basis, and technical requirements.
This position will eventually be a four on four off 12 hour rotating day shift position.
This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS
Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees.
Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
Perform waste management activities in accordance with RCRA regulations 40 CFR and the Washington Department of Ecology Dangerous Waste regulations WAC 173.303.
Provide waste packaging instructions that are in compliance with DOT 49 CFR transportation and procedure requirements to the waste generators and waste handlers.
Demonstrate an understanding of environmental regulations and of the WTP Dangerous waste Permit, with aspects to management of dangerous and mixed waste.
Obtain and maintain qualification as waste shipper for both dangerous and radioactive wastes
Responsible for all aspects of waste packaging, waste labeling, and waste storage.
Maintain current training, certification and development requirements.
Maintains assigned tracking reports, metrics and records.
Some support for department procedure change control may be required.
Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect self, others, and the environment

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide supervision of assigned personnel selected to perform waste management activities to include assigning complex work, setting work priorities, and evaluating and training them.
Maintain awareness of the facility status and ensuring that related waste management activities are prioritized to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Responsible for the performance of waste handlers assigned to the waste management organization.
Responsible for supporting the Waste Characterizations Specialists by ensuring waste is information is accurately documented and provided for waste characterization packaging and disposal.
Responsible for providing waste management instruction on the packaging and management for waste generator in the field.
REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS
Education:High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate’s degree (2 years) or a bachelor’s degree (4 years) may be counted toward required years of supervisory experience.
Experience: 6 years of supervisory experience in areas of hazardous waste management under RCRA or Washington State of Ecology, construction, engineering, startup, or other related experience is desired. Strong organizational and planning skills required, including the ability to prioritize workloads of assigned personnel based on project needs and then effectively communicate those priorities to impacted organizations. Must also have working knowledge of DOT 49 CFR requirements and have or be able to obtain a DOT shippers certification. Excellent technical writing/editing and verbal communication skills and a working knowledge of Conduct of Operations is desirable.

Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.
This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy (DOE) badge for access to the Hanford site.
Must be able to work in the United States without Sponsorship
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $99,193.03 - $154,255.09 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
