Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in higher education, residence life, summer camps, teaching, counseling, or student affairs
  • Experience managing events or programs
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership and/or supervising direct reports
  • Demonstrated experience with crisis management
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Current certification or openness to be trained in First Aid & CPR as well as Mental Health First Aid
  • Very strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Student-centered approach with a strong sense of responsibility for student success and wellbeing
  • Full availability from June 15 – July 3, 2026 is required
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Flexibility to travel between Oakland and Boston campuses
Responsibilities
  • Supervise and mentor teams of approximately 4 Student Life Ambassadors (SLAs) across Oakland and Boston programs
  • Support staff training and provide ongoing coaching to SLAs
  • Create staff schedules and delegate responsibilities to ensure seamless program operations
  • Foster a collaborative, student-centered team culture
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute daily student life programming and special events
  • Collaborate with campus partners to deliver activities, workshops, and social experiences
  • Ensure program spaces, equipment, and resources are prepared and maintained
  • Build positive relationships with participants and create an inclusive community
  • Provide responsive, professional support to students and families as needed
  • Address student conduct matters with fairness and discretion, escalating issues appropriately
  • Serve as a visible, approachable presence throughout the residential experience
  • Deliver exceptional customer service aligned with Northeastern's standards
  • Maintain a safe residential environment and enforce program policies
  • Respond to emergencies and incidents following established protocols
  • Document incidents and communicate with relevant stakeholders
  • Support health and wellness initiatives for participants
  • This is a temporary position from June 1 – July 5, 2026.
  • June 1 – 12 (Remote): Virtual onboarding and planning
  • June 15 – 19: In-person training and program set-up on the Oakland campus
  • June 21 – July 3: Administering and overseeing student life programming and pastoral care of participants on Northeastern’s Oakland campus
  • July 5: Program debrief
Desired Qualifications
  • Enrollment in, or graduate of, a graduate program in a relevant discipline: Higher Education, Student Affairs, Student Counseling, Secondary Education, or related field
  • Experience counseling students and managing mental health crises
  • Experience with pre-college or high school-aged populations
  • Knowledge of student development theory and restorative practices
  • Familiarity with Northeastern University
