Job Description

Rhombus Power seeks a highly motivated UI/UX Designer to join our fast-growing team, delivering complex enterprise solutions.

We’re looking for colleagues that are intrinsically motivated to create polished user interfaces and interactions, positive experiences, and have a growth mindset. We want someone who’s looking to figure out that ‘Ok, but what’s next?’ portion of a problem, anticipating and proactively responding to the entirety of the UI/UX process.

You’re motivated to understand user needs and behaviors and use that to drive product design and identify areas for improvement. You’ll be creating, reviewing, and iterating on wireframes, prototypes, and pixel-perfect designs and helping build out our design system!

You can expect to work with customer stakeholders, product, engineering, and leadership teams on existing, and future products that are changing the way US policy decisions are being made. The position requires US Citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain a Government Security clearance. It will be based in either Washington, DC (Right on the Yellow Line), or at our HQ in Palo Alto, California.

Responsibilities

Creation of storyboards, wireframes, user journeys, mockups and prototypes to communicate and validate designs
Conduct research and communicate with stakeholders and clients to deeply understand their goals and challenges
Clearly and confidently present design concepts and key milestone deliverables to internal teams and key stakeholders
Identify opportunities for design and process improvements and drive their implementation
Work on multiple projects with varying levels of definition, UX engagement, time to complete, and expectations
Help develop guidance/documentation for dev handoff and design specifications and components to ensure a cohesive design language
Be engaged in helping develop team process and practices

Qualifications

3+ years of work experience in UI/UX Designer
Strong and diverse portfolio showcasing UX and design skills. We’re looking for someone with an eye for design!
Experience creating prototypes or wireframes for complex web applications, workflows, and data visualizations
Fluency in best practices for HCD and usability principles and techniques.
Expertise in xD, and/or Sketch to create high-fidelity mock-ups and prototypes
Strong time-management skills and ability to self-manage effectively in a remote environment
An eye for detail and a high bar for quality
Familiarity with HTML, CSS and responsive design
US Citizenship, and the ability to obtain a Security Clearance

Nice To Have

Relevant degree Design, HCD, HCI or similar
Experience with visualization(s) of quantitative information
Familiarity with graphing libraries like Highcharts
Advanced Figma skills - Variables/Tokens, Logical operations etc
Functional experience with web front-end technologies such as HTML/CSS, Bootstrap, Leaflet, React
Experience with Storybook
Illustration or Drawing skills - Can you make custom icons?
