Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • SimpleClosure launched Asset Hub in April 2026, expanding revenue beyond dissolution fees.
  • It returned over $200 million to stakeholders by August 2026, proving product-market pull.
  • Q1 2026 shutdown volume accelerated, feeding a larger pipeline for closures and asset sales.

What critics are saying

  • Startup closures are cyclical; 2.6x more companies shut in Q1 2026 than Q1 2025.
  • Asset Hub depends on buyers for code and data; weak demand kills monetization.
  • A broader platform entrant like Carta or Stripe can copy workflows and compress margins.

What makes SimpleClosure unique

  • SimpleClosure owns the shutdown workflow, then monetizes leftover assets through Asset Hub.
  • It built a founder brand around faster, cheaper dissolutions than traditional legal firms.
  • Carta abandoned Carta Conclusions and backed SimpleClosure, validating specialized shutdown expertise.

SimpleClosure launches Asset Hub to recover trillions in abandoned startup assets

SimpleClosure, a startup dissolution service, has launched Asset Hub, a platform enabling founders to sell assets from shutting down companies. The first product, Source Code, is now live, with Workspace Data in beta. The platform addresses an estimated trillions of dollars in abandoned startup assets annually, including codebases, documentation and operational knowledge. SimpleClosure has analysed approximately 3 billion tokens, with nearly 100 participating companies achieving a 20% success rate for source code sales, generating millions in total value. Demand for AI training data has driven growth, with demand-side contracts up 150% quarter over quarter.
