Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of experience in an administrative support role in a patient care setting is preferred, not required.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English with patients, visitors, and hospital team members.
  • Keyboard skills.
Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support for the radiology department and staff so the clinical team and radiologists can focus on patient care.
  • Provide non-clinical assistance to improve patient satisfaction, patient flow, and department operations.
  • Greet patients and visitors, answer questions, and direct individuals appropriately.
  • Answer telephones, direct calls, take messages, and pass information to the appropriate team members.
  • Process orders using the electronic medical record and manual orders, and seek clarification for unclear orders.
  • Copy and fax paperwork as needed to support the patient care process.
  • Answer common non-clinical questions, escalate questions when appropriate, and provide general hospital information.
  • Direct individuals to locations throughout the facility using appointment and computer-system information.
  • Confirm patient appointments, provide exam preparation instructions, and verify clinical scheduling questionnaire accuracy.
  • Disseminate information to waiting patients and family members as directed by clinical staff and department procedures.
  • Provide non-clinical comfort measures to patients and family members in waiting areas, and seek clinical direction when appropriate.
  • Answer questions about wait times and delays while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Address service-recovery issues appropriately and inform nurses or providers of potential concerns.
  • Provide wheelchair assistance to patients as requested.
  • Coordinate patient transportation requirements and provide telephone assistance as needed.
  • Schedule urgent and stat examination appointments directly with ordering providers.
  • Monitor software for stat results, process results appropriately, and verify and document receipt.
  • Monitor potential examinations ordered for modalities with call-in processes when technicians are not assigned, and manage order requests according to guidelines.
  • Export imaging studies to CDs for patient pickup, inpatient or emergency-department transfers, and medical staff.
  • Upload external CD imaging studies into the picture archiving and communication system for comparison or clinical review.
  • Notify appropriate departments or individuals when patients or visitors arrive.
  • Provide telephone coverage and receive and transfer calls appropriately.
  • Enter patient demographic and other pertinent information into the system and perform basic data-entry functions.
  • Call in staff during staffing shortages at the supervisor's request.

Beth Israel Lahey Health rolls out Heidi's AI scribing to all physicians after 90% report better patient presence

Beth Israel Lahey Health is rolling out Heidi's ambient AI scribing tool to all its physicians following a successful trial across its facilities. The health system, which serves over 6,000 providers across 14 hospitals and 175 primary care practices, prioritises addressing physician burnout, with nearly half of US physicians reporting burnout. During a six-month trial offering Heidi to 1,000 providers, the majority adopted the technology. Survey results showed 89% were satisfied with note quality, 90% felt more present with patients, 74% reduced after-hours work time, and 82% experienced reduced cognitive load during visits. The implementation demonstrates how ambient AI can deliver immediate relief to physicians whilst benefiting patients and the healthcare system. Heidi supports over 2 million consultations weekly globally and has raised $96.6 million from investors including Point72 Private Investments and Blackbird.
