The Post
Ade Adepitan Short Break Centre is a centre of excellence in Brent for children and young people aged up to eighteen, with profound and multiple learning difficulties, complex health needs, physical disabilities and autistic spectrum disorders. We offer these children opportunities to have an enjoyable short break and new experiences to make a positive difference to their lives and achieve their goals.
The successful candidate will ensure the delivery of service within the aims of The Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 for the conduct of children’s home providers; and within the framework for Ofsted inspections.
Key responsibilities will comprise undertaking specific areas of responsibility including complex physical care; working with young people with autistic spectrum disorders; overall responsibility of the service as a shift leader; key working for individual children/ young people; implementing and monitoring the individual child/young persons Care Plan and helping them in achieving their targets and goals.
- You will supervise and develop excellent residential childcare officers. This will include the completion of high quality and timely assessments, providing effective support services for families and young people, and developing new multi-agency working relationships with our partners.
- You will ensure the delivery of effective services which meet their key performance indicators.
- You will ensure that your services are provided in a cost-effective manner.
- When required to do so you will deputise for Centre Manager of the unit.
- You will chair team meetings and parent coffee mornings and will participate in important departmental forums such as the Care Panel.
- You will develop excellent working relationships with our partner agencies and help to develop new multi-agency arrangements to deliver services in line with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
- You will ensure the consistent implementation of all Centre and Council Policy
The Person
The successful candidate should be an individual of integrity and good character; has the appropriate experience, qualification, and skills for the work; mentally and physically fit for the purposes of the work.
Do you enjoy working with children and young people and making a difference to their lives?
Do you have a level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare or and equivalent qualification?
Can you provide continuity of service to children and young people this role involves working unsociable hours?
Are you a skilled, motivated and a dynamic, committed professional with experience of working with children with disabilities?
Do you have a positive 'can do' attitude to make a positive impact?
- You will have at post qualifying experience and at least experience in management roles.
- You should be able to remain calm and confident in a pressurised environment where you will sometimes have to deal with conflicting demands.
- You will have strong communication skills which allow you to contribute to the positive and supportive cultures in your teams.
- You will be an effective performance manager who is able to identify and address any performance issues which arise.
- You will have excellent supervision skills which enable you to both develop and challenge your team managers when required to do so.
- You will have the ability to manage your budgets so that services are delivered within the agreed limits.
- You will have the ability to develop strong working relationships with our multi agency partners in order to create new models of service delivery.
