Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in equity research, investment banking, venture capital, public investing, consulting, or a related financial services role
  • Strong grasp of financial concepts, including valuation techniques (discounted cash flow, comparable, etc.), internal rate of return, asset allocation, fund benchmarks, and KPIs
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a strong analytical mindset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with the PitchBook Platform is a plus
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Energy industry, including the ecosystem for upstream, midstream, and downstream service providers, as well as energy equipment
  • Strong knowledge of capital markets, including market structure for private equity financing
  • Demonstrated expertise in writing investment research and engaging with clients on investment opportunities, preferably in the energy sector
Responsibilities
  • Analyze private market trends through the lens of private equity fundraising and dealmaking, focusing on the energy ecosystem across upstream, midstream, and downstream service providers
  • Conduct in-depth market research, covering key trends, market sizes, growth drivers, risks, and industry innovation
  • Publish quarterly updates and research notes leveraging PitchBook’s proprietary data on private equity activity, valuations, and market trends
  • Build and maintain datasets of companies, investors, and funds; including industry taxonomies and market maps to help clients track and analyze the industry
  • Attend industry conferences and engage with professionals to deepen your understanding of trends and expand your network
  • Engage with current and potential clients through meetings, webinars, and events to provide value and insights for their strategic decision making process and to support PitchBook’s sales efforts
  • Streamline research processes to scale with growing client demand and improve efficiency across the team
  • Identify opportunities for new research and insights utilizing PitchBook or third-party data to highlight industry trends
  • Develop innovative research offerings by leveraging proprietary or third-party partner data
  • Represent PitchBook Research externally (e.g., at conferences and webinars) and internally (collaborating across teams, including sales, marketing, and product development)
  • Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors
  • Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested
