Requirements
  • Experience using MATLAB, Simulink, C, or C++.
  • Experience in network and serial communications.
  • Experience with software configuration management systems, such as Git.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science.
  • For the Senior Professional level, 14 or more years of relevant experience.
  • For the Advanced Professional level, 5 or more years of relevant experience.
  • For the Intermediate Professional level, 2 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Candidates must be U.S. citizens.
  • Candidates must be eligible to obtain a government security clearance.
  • Candidates must participate in the Applied Research Laboratory drug testing program and comply with electronic and physical monitoring requirements applicable to federal contractors.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and analyze flight control system requirements, including system design trade studies.
  • Create, validate, and maintain six-degree-of-freedom dynamic system models for undersea vehicles, including software-in-the-loop simulations in MATLAB and Simulink.
  • Design, tune, and validate flight control algorithms and software.
  • Design, analyze, and update strapdown inertial navigation system algorithms, including modeling and analysis of navigation sensors.
  • Develop, debug, and test MATLAB/Simulink-based software and data analysis tools, including unit, integration, and hardware-in-the-loop system tests for vehicle software.
  • Document algorithms, specifications, software, and defects.
  • Support laboratory and field test planning, execution, and data analysis.
  • Seek professional development opportunities and share knowledge with team members.
  • Contribute to the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical engineering products, systems, and subsystems.
  • Investigate and evaluate the practical applicability of scientific theories and engineering principles to develop and improve engineering systems, and identify technical approaches for solving problems and meeting customer or grantor needs.
  • Apply standard practices and techniques in specific situations, correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results, and follow operations through related detailed processes.
  • Conduct laboratory and field experiments and tests to test, prove, or modify theoretical propositions; take measurements and record observations; collect, compile, and process data; and plan or design experiments or tests, including supervising their execution when applicable.
  • Initiate or contribute data, analysis, and designs for technical reports, documents, proposals, papers, and oral or written presentations.
