Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited physical or occupational therapy educational program.
  • Ability to develop a comprehensive, progressive treatment strategy focused on functional success in acute, community, and home settings.
  • Current Oregon occupational therapist license or current Oregon physical therapist license.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.
  • Certified Hand Therapist certification required upon hire.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities
  • Provide occupational therapy or physical therapy services, including activities of daily living training, energy conservation, splint fabrication, exercise, sensory integration, and perceptual/cognitive training.
  • Evaluate referred patients and establish treatment goals, objectives, and treatment plans.
  • Provide skilled therapy procedures and adjust treatment plans based on patient progress.
  • Train and educate patients, families, and caregivers, and provide handouts when indicated.
  • Document evaluations, treatment plans, goals, modalities, and procedures in compliance with applicable organizational, regulatory, and third-party standards.
  • Develop or improve patient care programs for the specialty area.
  • Demonstrate safe and competent use of therapy equipment and treatment modalities.
  • Assess patients for discharge when goals are met, progress plateaus, the patient is non-compliant, or medical status changes.
  • Enter appropriate billing for care provided and meet productivity expectations.
  • Facilitate therapy appointment scheduling and follow-up communication through Cadence and MyChart.
  • Complete Medicare certifications and recertifications accurately and monitor plans for timely cosignature.
  • Ensure patients have home programs after discharge.
  • Provide evidence-based clinical instruction and supervision for occupational or physical therapy students and other student learners.
  • Communicate with referring providers and educate physicians, fellows, residents, and other healthcare providers about rehabilitation.
  • Coordinate with rehabilitation team members and PAS Resource Specialists regarding referrals and insurance authorization.
  • Manage schedule changes and communicate with leads or supervisors to improve workflow.
  • Participate in professional development, competency assessment, staff orientation, cross-training, peer reviews, quality improvement, and department operations improvement.
  • Attend hand team meetings and pursue continuing education for hand therapy specialty licensure.
  • Maintain patient and workplace safety, infection control, and required life, fire, electrical, and disaster-safety practices.
  • Maintain professional, ethical, courteous, and effective communication with patients, families, staff, and other customers.
