Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is preferred.
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida or through the Nurse Licensure Compact is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • Certification in the area of expertise is preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification may be required based on the assigned patient population.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a registered nurse is required.
Responsibilities
  • Lead shift operations within the clinical setting to ensure high-quality care, exceptional customer experience, and optimal patient flow.
  • Manage staffing assignments for oncoming and off-going shifts based on patient acuity and team-member skill sets.
  • Coordinate patient flow with Administrative Supervisors, Care Coordinators, and Discharge Planners.
  • Monitor patients in the area of responsibility, including seriously ill patients.
  • Coordinate or participate in patient care delivery in compliance with physician orders, policies, procedures, and practice standards.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for frontline team members and providers.
  • Support clinical collaboration focused on expected patient length of stay.
  • Perform direct patient care activities as operational needs require.
  • Conduct Nurse Leader rounds and investigate and respond to patient, family, and physician complaints.
  • Participate in or lead safety huddles.
  • Assess equipment needs and ensure staff can appropriately use required patient-care equipment.
  • Maintain a regulatory-ready environment of care.
  • Allocate and adjust staffing, assign meal breaks, and provide team-member relief as indicated.
  • Use fiscal management skills and financial resources in decision-making.
  • Attend leadership huddles and assist with new nursing and clinical initiatives.
  • Foster positive multidisciplinary partnerships through collegial collaboration.
  • Coach and mentor the nursing team.
  • Promote a safe working environment and support or coordinate follow-up for workplace-violence occurrences.
  • Participate in unit or department audits to identify improvement opportunities and trends.
  • Promote high-quality nursing practice supported by evidence-based practice, research, organizational standards, and national standards.
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance and comply with Orlando Health policies and applicable federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintain compliance with Orlando Health policies and procedures.

  • Prior preceptor, charge, or lead experience is highly preferred but not required.

Florida cancer centre opens 31,000 sq ft St Petersburg facility with on-site imaging

Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute has opened a new 31,000-square-foot facility at Orlando Health Institute Square in St. Petersburg, expanding cancer care access in Pinellas County. The location at 725 6th Ave South features 18 private exam rooms, 47 infusion chairs and on-site PET/CT imaging. The facility offers advanced treatments including bispecific therapies and clinical trial participation, with plans to expand outpatient cell therapy programmes. Six board-certified medical oncologists and haematologists, supported by four advanced practice practitioners, provide care through a collaborative, patient-centred model. The opening represents a hospital-specialty collaboration aimed at bringing complex therapies closer to patients' homes.
