Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in embedded firmware and software development.
  • Experience working with embedded microprocessor development environments and products using Real-Time Operating Systems.
  • Technical proficiency in C and C++ programming.
  • Ability to read and understand technical specifications such as Application Programming Interfaces and user guides.
  • Ability to operate and control electronic equipment using RS-232 and RS-485 communication standards.
  • Knowledge of Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol and wireless communication principles including Bluetooth, Bluetooth Low Energy, 6LowPAN, and Infrared remote control protocols.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as Enterprise Resource Planning software.
  • Ability to interview, screen, select, and monitor the performance of technical personnel.
  • Ability and willingness to travel both domestically and internationally on a limited basis.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, integrate, and test embedded firmware for lighting control products.
  • Collaborate on the architecture and specification of firmware solutions for embedded electronic products.
  • Innovate and review product design specifications for continuous improvement.
  • Design and debug hardware and firmware integration of custom firmware to meet functional requirements.
  • Analyze and accept firmware modules contributed by extended team members or contract partners.
  • Identify and specify test methodologies to analyze software for functional acceptability, including the development of automated regression test applications.
  • Participate in interviewing, evaluating, and training employees.
  • Plan, assign, and direct tasks or projects to team members, including coaching and developing talent.
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership to provide recommendations for employee promotions and salary adjustments.
  • Communicate intended design and project task assignments to team members and provide summarized project status updates to engineering leadership.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Experience with Agile Software methodologies.
