Requirements
  • One year of related work experience.
  • A high school diploma or educational equivalent.
  • HVAC certification.
  • EPA certification.
  • Knowledge of HVAC tools, materials, and safe work practices.
  • Knowledge of HVAC repair, maintenance, and installation techniques.
  • Ability to use a digital multimeter.
  • Ability to operate, install, maintain, and repair HVAC equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics.
  • Ability to perform on-call duties and respond to emergencies after hours, on weekends, holidays, and during emergency closures.
  • Basic computer skills, including accessing and sending emails, locating internet sites, completing timesheets, and using work-order systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, stooping, crawling, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work safely and use required personal protective equipment, including safety shoes, eye and face protection, hearing protection, and an N95 respirator or more protective equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Repair and maintain existing HVAC systems, including chilling and heating systems, and check chemical treatments.
  • Install and replace pumps, refrigeration equipment, pneumatic and electric valves, heat-transfer equipment, ventilation equipment, and air-distribution equipment according to prints, specifications, diagrams, or other instructions.
  • Develop and implement a lockout/tagout program for HVAC equipment at all buildings and campuses.
  • Develop and implement a preventive-maintenance program for HVAC equipment at all buildings and campuses.
  • Perform preventive-maintenance checks on major mechanical equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and evaluate the operating efficiency of mechanical equipment, including electrical components and voltage readings.
  • Comply with applicable health and safety regulations, policies, and established work practices.
  • Manage the budget within the assigned department.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Desired Qualifications
  • An associate degree.
  • Registered HVAC certification with the State of Texas.
  • NATE certification.
