Requirements
  • Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and three years of nursing experience, or Registered Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse with an associate degree and six years of nursing experience.
  • Current licensure in the state in which the applicant is applying to teach.
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing.
  • Ability to meet the faculty requirements set by the Board of Nursing.
  • Current knowledge of nursing practice and clinical-setting experience.
  • Ability to mentor students in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision.
  • Broad knowledge of nursing sciences.
  • Successful handling of day-to-day operations in the nursing laboratory.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Current immunizations and Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Must obtain Assessment Technologies Institute certification within 30 days of hire.
Responsibilities
  • Make continuous efforts to improve instructional quality by reviewing and using different and innovative teaching methodologies and techniques.
  • Use online activities as enhancements to course content and materials during interactive teaching and learning, or acquire the skills to do so.
  • Assist with reviewing and revising the syllabus for assigned courses and instructional guidelines.
  • Submit required program reports and forms to the program director in a timely manner.
  • Keep current with new technologies and safety regulations.
  • Maintain student attendance records, grades, and skills check-off forms, and assist with program data collection by required deadlines.
  • Assist with updating and maintaining student files related to clinical requirements, immunizations, and educational requirements.
  • Teach courses at various times and locations according to program needs.
  • Teach lecture content and clinical rotations, including weekday and possible evening or weekend schedules.
  • Participate in professional development and maintain continuing-education hours required to renew licensure.
  • Stay current with college updates.
  • Actively participate in assigned committees while prioritizing teaching responsibilities.
