Civitech, a public benefit corporation focused on progressive political technology, has appointed Andrew Byrnes as General Counsel. Byrnes will join the Executive Leadership Team and oversee legal, governance, and compliance strategy. Byrnes brings over 25 years of experience in technology, law, and public policy. He previously served as Senior Legal Director at Uber's global rideshare business and as Chief of Staff at the US Patent and Trademark Office under President Obama, where he managed over 12,000 staff and a budget exceeding $3 billion. He was also a partner at Covington & Burling and has been active in Democratic politics for more than three decades. Since its 2019 founding, Civitech's tools have been used by more than 1,400 partners to reach tens of millions of voters.
